When and where does FM24 come out?

When will early access be available?

Early access to FM24 will be offered to players who purchase the game from participating retailers approximately two weeks ahead of the official release date.

Nevertheless, in the case of FM23, early access was granted two-and-a-half weeks before the game's official release. Miles Jacobson, the studio director of Sports Interactive, stated that early access will be made available "when we are confident in its readiness."

What are the new features?

Upon launching FM24, players on the PC version via Steam and Epic will have the exclusive opportunity of early access. Notably, this advanced access presents users with an intriguing feature that awaits them as they initiate their gaming experience—three distinct options to embark on their initial save.

Along with the standard option of loading the most accurate data and squads, users will also be able to choose from 'real world' and 'your world' options.

'Real world' feature enables users to import squads that are reflective of the real-life starting date of their game save. The transfers within the game will then align with the actual dates they took place in reality.

On the other hand, 'Your world' feature goes one step ahead by resetting squads and budgets to match the exact state they were in at the beginning of the game save date. This feature also cancels any transfers that occurred after the specified date, allowing users to continue their game from the exact point where the 2022/23 season concluded.

FM23 players who are still immersed in their save will be delighted to know that they have the option to transfer their current game to FM24.

In FM24, players will experience a significant improvement in the selling process of squad members. They will now have the ability to have discussions with their agents regarding the possibility of leaving. Players can also ask their agents to find potential buyers for those they wish to move on from, or hire an intermediary to handle the task.

Intermediaries have been introduced in FM to simplify the process of selling players. They either generate interest in a player or assist in the sale, and in return, receive a portion of the final fee.

Additionally, FM24 initiates a partnership with TransferRoom, a platform utilized by actual clubs for promoting players they wish to sell and scouting potential new talents.

Another addition to the game is the inclusion of set-piece coaches, enhancing the functionality of creating and handling set-pieces for users. This update will grant managers enhanced control over both attacking and defensive set-pieces, placing more importance on players' abilities rather than their positions.

Furthermore, managers have the option to establish individual performance targets for their players, aiming to motivate them to enhance their performance.

All three divisions of the Japanese J. League will also be included for the first time, including official logos, kits and player photos.

What other improvements have been made?

In order to make the transfer market more realistic, multiple enhancements have been implemented. These involve clubs taking into account additional factors like form and reputation when acquiring players, as well as being more successful in recruiting individuals who suit their managers' preferred style of play.

Consequently, users can expect a rise in competition for players within the transfer market.

Managers are now faced with the challenge of managing negative transfer budgets, which can occur when they take over a club or overspend the available funds. In such cases, the board may instruct managers to raise funds or take control of the transfer budget by selling players.

The most significant improvement on the field is expected to be the enhancements in positional play. This upgrade will enable players to adjust their positions on the pitch according to the instructions given to them and their teammates.

For instance, managers can enhance their ability to mimic the tactics employed by Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola. These two esteemed managers are known for seamlessly transitioning their teams between a back-three and a back-four formation, depending on whether they have possession of the ball or not.

The inverted full-back role in FM24 helps facilitate this by allowing a player to act as a regular full-back when not in possession, but then transition into a third centre-back when in possession.

The graphics have been enhanced to offer superior lighting and pitch textures during matches. Additionally, efforts have been made to enhance the team selections and decision-making of AI managers, incorporating improved logic for player rotation and development of young talents.

What about FM24 Mobile?

Netflix members will now have exclusive access to FM24 Mobile.

According to Jacobson, this decision was made in order to ensure the future of Football Manager Mobile, which has been facing a decline in sales. Netflix successfully convinced the studio that this was the best path for the game.

Women's football and what comes next

FM24 is set to be an ode to football and an important milestone as we bring this chapter in our history to a close.

Starting from FM25, the game will undergo a major transformation with the integration of Unity engine. This will enable us to revamp the graphics and introduce a fresh user interface throughout the game, both within and beyond matchdays.

Women's football will also be introduced into FM25, three years after it was first revealed.
