Highlights
Marvel Snap's monthly seasons and constant supply of Marvel-related content make it advantageous for the game's popularity and player engagement.
Including Fogwell's Gym as a location in Marvel Snap provides players with enhanced boosters, mirroring the incentive systems seen in other games such as Dead by Daylight. To enhance player retention and engagement, it would be advantageous for Marvel Snap to introduce additional events and rewards, akin to Dead by Daylight's Blood Hunts.
Marvel Snap has cleverly embraced a seasonal content approach that shows promise for its future. By introducing a new season every month, Marvel Snap reaps the benefits, particularly because there is always an abundance of Marvel-related material available. Whether it's a new Disney Plus show or a collaboration with a recent Marvel game like Marvel's Midnight Suns, there is never a shortage of content. Additionally, the deck-builder game has the advantage of drawing inspiration from the vast selection of comics.
However, Second Dinner, the team behind Marvel Snap, has shown a commitment to keeping things fresh and exciting for players. They understand that not all fans may be interested in every season's content, especially if they already know which characters will be introduced and how they fit into their current gameplay strategies. This is where the introduction of Fogwell's Gym as a location comes into play. It not only adds variety to the gameplay, but it also offers increased boosters for both players. Although this location may not be as frequently featured as before, it's still a noteworthy incentive that mirrors the approach often taken by Dead by Daylight to keep players engaged.
Dead by Daylight’s Blood Hunts Encourage Active Users
Dead by Daylight relies on player retention and engagement for its live-service nature. As a developer in the asymmetrical horror genre, they excel at consistently releasing new content. The game's reputation is largely built on its ability to secure licensed content, which attracts both fans who enjoy the core mechanics and those who may have reservations. Nonetheless, Dead by Daylight continuously drops original and licensed content to remain relevant and popular.
In addition, Dead by Daylight frequently holds Blood Hunt events, offering players increased Bloodpoints earned during matches over a weekend. These events can coincide with larger seasonal events or happen randomly. They serve as a clever way to incentivize fans to play more, hoping to accumulate a desired number of Bloodpoints with the help of multiplier stacks. Ultimately, Blood Hunts can create a fear of missing out (FOMO) among some players, undoubtedly drawing in more players during these periods compared to when there are no other events taking place.
Marvel Snap’s Fogwell’s Gym is a Great Event Incentive
Marvel Snap may not currently have a problem retaining its playerbase, but implementing additional events that reward fans with more resources will only benefit the game in the long run. Marvel Snap has already introduced weekend challenges that offer Energy, Gold, and Collector's Tokens, which have had a significant impact. These challenges align with the season passes, making it advantageous for fans to participate in both. However, there is a significant amount of downtime between each season if players quickly complete the daily and seasonal challenges as they become available. This means that players may have to wait a few days before the next set of challenges is released.
If Fogwell's Gym were to be reintroduced periodically, it could potentially serve as Marvel Snap's equivalent to Dead by Daylight's Blood Hunts. However, introducing more locations that offer different rewards would allow Marvel Snap to outshine Dead by Daylight by providing more generous offerings. Alternatively, Marvel Snap could consider hosting events that are not tied to specific locations, challenges, or log-in rewards, in order to further diversify the player experience.
