Turn On the Generator in the Bunker Overlap

During Saga's Chapter 5: Old Gods, players will visit the Valhalla Nursing Home in search of Tor Anderson. Once they finish the main objectives at and near the home, they will enter an old abandoned bunker through another Overlap. Inside this unsettling place, players will soon encounter a generator being guarded by a Taken. After eliminating the threat, players can activate the generator to restore power to the bunker.

When the system is operational, players will immediately notice a crimson light illuminating a switch on the wall adjacent to the entrance of the room leading to the generator. Activate this switch, and Saga will make a remark about the lights, revealing that they have unveiled a previously hidden wall. True enough, a door with grating now obstructs her path, prompting players to proceed through it.

Navigate The Looping Rooms

Upon entering, visitors will find themselves in a room furnished with weathered bunk beds covered in rust and surrounded by flourishing plant life. As Saga takes a step forward, an apparition of Alan Wake materializes, offering valuable guidance. Departing from this chamber, one will come across a graffiti-covered wall displaying a vivid depiction of the words "Oceanview Hotel." Players who have previously explored the game may recognize this location.

From this point, players should take a right turn and proceed down the hallway. While moving along the narrow corridor, they will come across foreboding warnings about the "Drowned Lady."

As they progress further, players will inevitably observe that the rooms start to repeat and form a loop, and Saga will also make a comment regarding this. In order to escape, players should make a U-turn at any dead ends and continue following the numerical sequence of 1-5 on the walls and doors of the bunker until they reach a small flight of stairs.

If unsure or lost, follow the bunker numbers marked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc., in ascending order until reaching these stairs.

Find The Tool Cabinet Key

Heading up, players will see a tool cabinet. This is where the bolt cutters are stored. However, they cannot be acquired yet as the cabinet needs a key.

Adjacent to the cabinet lies a crimson light switch resembling the one found in proximity to the generator. Engage it to illuminate the way and venture into the ensuing chamber, which seems to serve as the control hub for the bunker. Towards the rear of this area resides yet another light switch. Trigger this third switch, and witness a subtle transformation within the room.

There are currently cabinets installed in the corners that contain a limited amount of supplies. However, players should direct their attention to a table situated on the far right wall, which houses a drawer. Inside this drawer, they will discover the key to the tool cabinet.

With the key in hand, players can return to the cabinet locker by the previous switch, open it, and pick up the bolt cutters.

Doing so will also unlock the Cut Short Trophy/Achievement. Players can now utilize this versatile tool to progress to the next section of the chapter, as well as solve other puzzles and uncover secrets in Alan Wake 2.
