According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will offer an extensive adventure lasting "almost 100 hours." In response to the State of Play trailer showcasing the game's plethora of content, the official Final Fantasy VII "X" account on Twitter shared a collection of statements from key creative individuals involved in the project, including creative director Tetsuya Nomura, producer Yoshinori Kitase, and director Hamaguchi.

Hamaguchi emphasized the inclusion of "free exploration" in Rebirth, highlighting the newfound freedom for Cloud and his companions now that they have ventured beyond Midgar's confining steel walls. According to Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth offers a grander and more ambitious main storyline, as well as captivating side stories, enjoyable mini-games, formidable monsters, and countless other discoveries scattered across the world map. Encouraging players to immerse themselves in the intricate details of this vast world, Hamaguchi revealed that nearly 100 hours of thrilling adventure await them.

The game's latest trailer showcases much of what Hamaguchi described, including the various minigames at the Golden Saucer, iconic locations like Costa del Sol, and even the appearance of Weapons - powerful optional bosses from the original Final Fantasy VII. According to Hamaguchi, the amount of side content in Rebirth is almost twice as much as the main story.

Hamaguchi explained that the world map in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is vast and expansive, with not all locations being part of the main story. Players who want to delve deeper into the Final Fantasy VII setting can explore all corners of the world, uncovering new stories, battles, and mini-games to enjoy. Additionally, they can revisit any region even after progressing past the main quest, ensuring nothing is left behind or unfinished.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth does not support the import of save data from Remake. However, players who have experienced Remake will receive summon materia as a reward. The game is scheduled to be released on February 29, 2024, exclusively for PlayStation 5, and will remain exclusive to Sony's latest console for a minimum of three months. Preorders for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are currently available.
