Once players reach the "Righting Wrongs" main story mission in Final Fantasy 16, they will unlock the Alliant Reports. These reports can be accessed by speaking with the Lank-locked Bearer at the Fat Chocobo diner in Cid's hideaway. They provide a comprehensive list of available side quests, one of which is called "Dying on the Vine."
The "Dying on the Vine" side quest takes place in the Lostwing area of Sanbreque and is relatively straightforward. Players are tasked with assisting one of Quinten's workers who is facing trouble in the vineyards. To complete the quest, Clive and his friends must tackle a pest problem, and in return, they will be rewarded with a generous prize.
How to Complete Dying on the Vine in Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy 16 players can initiate the "Dying on the Vine" side quest by engaging in a conversation with Emile, located in the wine cellars of one of Lostwing's numerous buildings. Emile will express his concerns regarding a swarm of furious wasps devouring his prized grapes. If he fails to find a solution to protect his crop, he will face the wrath of Quinten. Consequently, Emile will implore Clive to resolve the issue and assist him in accomplishing the task.
If players agree, their first task will be to eradicate the vermin infesting Gaultand's bales. While they have the option to walk there from the cellar, it is much more efficient to utilize the game's lightning-fast load times and simply fast travel to the Orabelle Downs Obelisk. Once they arrive, they will encounter the bothersome Vintner Wasps mentioned earlier, and it is crucial that they eliminate them using any means necessary. Considering the effectiveness of fire against insects, players should consider utilizing Ifrit or Phoenix's Eikonic Abilities if the situation calls for it.
After defeating the wasps, players have the option to quickly return to the Lostwing Obelisk and make their way back to the wine cellar to have a conversation with Emile. Emile expresses his jubilation that Clive was present to rescue him, and as a token of gratitude, he generously offers players a decent reward. This includes 16 XP, ten Sharp Fangs, and one Black Blood. The Black Blood can be sold to any merchant for 400 Gil, providing players with additional currency.
Please note that Final Fantasy 16 is currently only available for the PlayStation 5.
