Final Fantasy 14 players have taken to social media to express their frustrations regarding the Fall Guys collaboration in the game's recent Patch 6.51 release. Several players have shared videos showcasing moments where server ticks and latency issues have cost them the opportunity to win in the Fall Guys mini-game.
The collaboration between Final Fantasy 14 and Fall Guys was initially revealed at the 2023 Las Vegas Fan Fest and was an unexpected partnership. From August 22 to October 3, players had the chance to earn FF14-themed outfits in Fall Guys through the Warrior of Lights Fame Pass. These outfits were based on iconic Final Fantasy 14 characters such as a Chocobo, a Namazu, and a Dragoon. While the Fame Pass has already concluded in Final Fantasy 14, players eagerly awaited the arrival of the Fall Guys content in Eorzea. Fortunately, the wait wasn't too long as the Blunderdome experience was soon introduced to the game.
The introduction of the Fall Guys crossover into Final Fantasy 14 coincided with the release of Patch 6.51 on Halloween. Players on the r/ffxiv subreddit shared their experiences and frustrations regarding the game's servers and the new attraction called the Blunderdome. Two videos, posted by Reddit users anixall and ipsusu, showcased discrepancies in server ticks, causing inconsistencies in player locations. In anixall's video, their character was hit by a falling object despite being further away from it. Similarly, in ipsusu's video, their character was in a position to grab the crown, but the game awarded it to another player who appeared to be behind but was shown to be ahead a few frames later.
Additionally, Lokiberry, another Redditor, shared a video of their character being stunned by a sliding barrier that they had already moved away from over a second ago. This unexpected hit caused them to drop their crystal and restart their run. In the comment sections of these videos, Final Fantasy 14 players offered various suggestions for Square Enix to address these issues. It is important to note that this bug is not the sole problem in the Patch 6.5 series, though Square Enix has yet to address it as of the time of writing.
With fresh incentives and accomplishments for players of Final Fantasy 14 to acquire, the collaboration with Fall Guys will extend until New Year's Eve. The resolution of player grievances by Square Enix remains uncertain.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am disappointed with the Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.51 content. The collaboration with Fall Guys was highly anticipated, but the server ticks and latency issues have overshadowed the fun. It's frustrating to see that these issues have not been acknowledged or resolved by Square Enix.
The videos shared on Reddit clearly show the inconsistencies in player positions, which greatly affect gameplay. It's unfair that players are losing their chances of winning due to these technical issues. I hope Square Enix takes note of the community's concerns and addresses them promptly. Overall, I am underwhelmed by the Fall Guys collaboration in Final Fantasy 14 and hope for improvements in future updates.
