Following the news of Steven Yeun's departure from Thunderbolts, there are rumors that his former Walking Dead co-star may step into the role. Marvel's Thunderbolts has been making headlines for its casting shake-up, despite being a year away from its premiere.
The upcoming movie, a part of the MCU's Phase 6, features an all-star team of villains embarking on a secret and perilous mission for the U.S. government.
Although most of the team's cast remains the same, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova is at the forefront, Steven Yeun has stepped away from his role as Sentry, and it appears that his Walking Dead co-star will take over for him.

The Walking Dead star takes Thunderbolts torch from Yeun
Recently, it was announced that Yeun would be stepping down from the role of Sentry in Thunderbolts due to a scheduling conflict caused by the movie's delay. As a result, the role is now available and there are rumors that Yeun's Walking Dead co-star, Austin Abrams, is in negotiations to take on the part.
Daniel Richtman, along with @rDCUleaks, revealed on Twitter that actor Austin Abrams (known for his role in Euphoria) has received an offer to portray Sentry in the upcoming Thunderbolts film. See the announcement here: pic.twitter.com/batuPUaLG3
Abrams gained recognition for his portrayal of Ethan in the popular teen drama Euphoria on HBO Max, and also had a role in the fifth and sixth seasons of The Walking Dead as Ron Anderson.
In Season 5 and 6, Yeun and Abrams' characters crossed paths as Yeun's group of survivors entered the safe community where Abrams' family resided. If cast, Abrams will join Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbor, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and others in the movie. More information about the movie's cast and plot can be found here.
Editor's P/S
As a dedicated fan of both "The Walking Dead" and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I am thrilled to hear that Austin Abrams, who played Ron Anderson in "The Walking Dead," is in talks to replace Steven Yeun as Sentry in the upcoming movie "Thunderbolts." Abrams' portrayal of Ron in "The Walking Dead" showcased his talent and versatility as an actor, and I believe he has the potential to bring a unique and compelling interpretation to the role of Sentry.
The news of Yeun's departure from the project is certainly disappointing, but I understand that scheduling conflicts can arise and affect even the best-laid plans. However, the prospect of Abrams taking on the role fills me with excitement and anticipation. I am confident that he will bring his own unique energy and charisma to the character, and I can't wait to see him share the screen with the other talented actors in the "Thunderbolts" cast.
