New Update: Federal authorities in Buffalo, New York are currently investigating a "vehicle explosion" at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing between the US and Canada. They have described the situation as "very fluid."
The FBI is currently collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in the ongoing investigation, as stated on X, previously known as Twitter. "As the situation is constantly changing, this is all we can disclose at this time," the statement mentioned.
The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition has reported a crash at the Rainbow Bridge crossing connecting the US and Canada near Niagara Falls, resulting in the shut down of the bridge on both sides.
According to a spokesperson for the Niagara Falls mayor's office, a vehicle attempted to enter the US side of the border, resulting in the shutdown of both sides of the bridge. Aaron Ferguson, public information officer for the city of Niagara Falls, informed CNN that the details of the incident are limited at this time.
At 11:51 a.m., the bridge was closed due to a crash, as reported by the technology coalition. Camera footage from the coalition depicts haze enveloping the bridge. According to US Customs and Border Protection, there are four ports of entry between Canada and the US near Niagara Falls.
