The first trailer for season 7 of My Hero Academia was released on Saturday, December 16, 2023, sparking excitement among fans. However, not everyone was pleased after watching the trailer. Season 6 faced heavy criticism for studio BONES' decision to maintain a bright blue sky during a crucial battle scene, diminishing the impact of the events compared to the manga.
The trailer for the seventh season of BONES shows that they are sticking to their decision, but fans have reason to believe that the upcoming season of My Hero Academia will bring about major concerns beyond the blue sky. Please note that this article contains spoilers from the My Hero Academia manga.
Why My Hero Academia season 7 may have a bigger disappointment than the blue sky
The conclusion of the previous season of the anime and the trailer for My Hero Academia season 7 indicate that a showdown between Star and Stripe and Tomura Shigaraki is on the horizon.
Star and Stripe, renowned as America's No. 1 Hero and the world's strongest woman, is poised to be a formidable opponent for characters like Tomura Shigaraki, who is nearing the completion of his transformation into All For One.

Additionally, her Quirk, New Order, proved to be incredibly potent. This ability granted her the power to dominate her environment by making physical contact with the target and vocalizing their name. This allowed her to control and allocate new attributes to herself and the surrounding world.
Nevertheless, her portrayal in the manga proved to be underwhelming as she was defeated by Shigaraki and could only manage to delay the completion of his body by one week.

As a result, many fans felt that her storyline was a complete disappointment, leading them to believe that they could skip it without missing any important developments. The only significant detail to emerge was that Shigaraki's body completion had been delayed.
Additionally, fans were certain that the fight would not be drawn out. The Star and Stripe arc was only six chapters long in the manga, with five chapters dedicated to the actual battle. Consequently, some fans worried that poor pacing could lead to both her introduction and demise being condensed into a single episode.

There was genuine excitement among fans regarding her quirk, with many believing that it had the potential to take down All For One. However, there were also some fans who speculated that the manga creator, Kohei Horikoshi, may have had to write her out of the series for the same reason. Keeping her in the series might have posed a threat to the future plotlines.
In general, manga enthusiasts were disappointed with how her character was underutilized. As a result, if manga fans felt that her presence was squandered, there is a likelihood that anime fans will also be displeased with how she is handled in season 7 of My Hero Academia.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of My Hero Academia, I am both excited and concerned about the upcoming seventh season. The trailer released on December 16, 2023, has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some expressing disappointment over the studio's decision to maintain the bright blue sky during crucial battle scenes. While I understand the artistic choice behind this decision, I believe it diminishes the impact and intensity of these moments compared to the manga.
Furthermore, the trailer hints at a showdown between Star and Stripe, America's No. 1 Hero, and Tomura Shigaraki, who is nearing the completion of his transformation into All For One. While Star and Stripe's Quirk, New Order, has the potential to be incredibly powerful, her portrayal in the manga was underwhelming, leading to a sense of disappointment among fans. Many felt that her storyline could have been more impactful and that her defeat by Shigaraki was anticlimactic.
