Fallout 4's Next-Gen Update Pushed Back to 2024

Disappointing news for Fallout 4 fans as Bethesda announces a delay in the highly anticipated 4K update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S The update, originally slated for this year, will now be released in 2024

Bethesda has announced that the anticipated update for Fallout 4 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S won't be available until 2024. The official Fallout account expressed gratitude to fans for their understanding, noting that the update was initially planned for release before the end of 2023. "We require additional time and are eager for a thrilling comeback to the Commonwealth in 2024," Bethesda stated in a social media post.

Bethesda's update announced in October 2022 introduces new options for players to choose between a performance mode for high frame rates or a quality mode prioritizing 4K. The free update also includes bug fixes and additional Creation Club content.

After its original release in 2015, Fallout 4 achieved critical and commercial success, leading to multiple expansions. Although the subsequent Fallout 76 in 2018 faced criticism for its always-online nature, the game has continued to grow and evolve, reaching over 15 million players.

Bethesda is currently in the process of developing Fallout 5, but the release date is expected to come after The Elder Scrolls 6. Their most recent game, Starfield, was released in September and has already reached over 12 million players. CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, has expressed his hopes for the game to have a similar enduring success to that of Skyrim.

As a Gen Z netizen, I'm a huge fan of the Fallout series and was eagerly anticipating the next-gen update for Fallout 4. The news of its delay to 2024 is disappointing, but I understand that Bethesda wants to deliver the best possible experience to players. I'm confident that the extra development time will allow them to polish the update and make it even more enjoyable. I'm also excited about the potential for new content and bug fixes that may be included in the update.

On the other hand, I can't help but feel a bit frustrated by the delay. I've been looking forward to revisiting the Commonwealth in all its 4K glory, and now I have to wait even longer. I hope Bethesda will provide some more information about the update in the coming months to keep us fans excited and engaged. Overall, I'm still optimistic about the next-gen update for Fallout 4 and believe it will be worth the wait.
