F-Zero GX producer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, expresses interest in working with Nintendo again to create a new entry in the series.

F-Zero GX, a niche title, is widely regarded as one of the top racing games on the Nintendo GameCube and has cultivated a devoted fanbase. Reflecting on his work on F-Zero GX, Nagoshi cherishes the memories and firmly believes that his extensive experience and acquired knowledge over the past twenty years would greatly contribute to the series if he were given the opportunity to work on it once more.

Toshihiro Nagoshi, the former producer of F-Zero GX, has expressed his openness to working with Nintendo again to create a new installment in the series. F-Zero GX is widely regarded as one of the finest racing games on the Nintendo GameCube, though it remains a more niche title compared to Nintendo's well-known franchises like Mario and Zelda. Nonetheless, F-Zero has a dedicated fan base, with GX in particular receiving high praise within this small series.

Before gaining recognition as the creator of Sega's Like a Dragon franchise, Nagoshi served as the president of Sega's Amusement Vision team. This studio was responsible for the highly influential Super Monkey Ball series, with the first two games serving as exclusive launch titles for the GameCube. Among the projects developed by the AV team was the Nintendo-produced F-Zero GX. Despite the studio eventually transforming into Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Nagoshi still holds a deep affection for the project and expresses his desire to return to the series in the future.

In a recent VGC interview, Nagoshi was asked about F-Zero GX, as 2023 marks the game's 20th anniversary. He expressed that he holds profound nostalgic memories of the game, as it was during this time that he truly grasped the art of creating a high-quality game that deeply resonated with its players. Nagoshi further elaborated that if given the opportunity, he would draw upon all the knowledge and expertise he has acquired over the past two decades to once again contribute to the series.

When asked about the possibility of his new studio reviving the F-Zero series in the future, Nagoshi simply laughed and suggested that it would be better to direct the question to Nintendo. Fans of the dormant franchise have eagerly awaited a new installment, as the last game, F-Zero Climax, was released exclusively for the GBA nearly twenty years ago. Notable figures within the Nintendo community, including former series artist Takaya Imamura and former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, have expressed their desire to see F-Zero make a comeback. While rumors of a remastered version of F-Zero GX being developed by Next Level Games have circulated in recent months, no official announcement has been made. Nagoshi himself recently departed from Sega in 2021 to establish his own development studio, Nagoshi Studio, under NetEase.
