Developer Mundfish has recently provided more information about the highly anticipated DLC for Atomic Heart. This includes a sneak peek at some of the exciting new features that players can look forward to when it becomes available on August 2. Upon its initial release in February 2023, Atomic Heart received a mixed reception, with fans divided in their opinions about the game. This was reflected in the varied reviews it received. Apart from the controversies surrounding its setting and certain content, the single-player first-person shooter was plagued with numerous bugs that negatively impacted the gaming experience. However, Mundfish has been diligently working on resolving these issues through regular updates. Additionally, they have been building anticipation for the upcoming Atomic Heart DLC, which until now, had only been given a general release timeframe.

The highly anticipated DLC, "Annihilation Instinct," for Atomic Heart is set to release on August 2, 2023, across all platforms. Continuing where the original game left off, players can expect to confront new shape-shifting enemies as they navigate through the swamps of the Mendeleev Complex. This complex is part of Facility 3826, the main setting of the game. Along with the thrilling storyline, the DLC will introduce two new weapons: the Secateur, an energy rifle similar in size to the Dominator, and the Klusha, a two-handed polearm for close combat. Furthermore, protagonist P-3 will possess the Techno-Stasis ability, enabling the manipulation of time, while still utilizing his trusty glove.

In line with the Annihilation Instinct DLC's theme, the newly introduced glove power complements the process of uncovering the truth about NORA, the chatty vending machine utilized for weapon upgrades and skill unlocks in Atomic Heart. The DLC will also reintroduce non-player characters from the main game and introduce a mysterious new character.

For avid players who find the DLC insufficient, Mundfish recently launched an Update 1.8.0.0 featuring a New Game+ mode, which presents enemies with additional abilities to be wary of. An example would be the VOV-A6 Lab Tech, a robot with a distinctive mustache, now exhibiting immunity to glove abilities and cartridge weapons, as well as heightened attack and movement speeds. Furthermore, it has been disclosed that an Atomic Heart sequel is already in progress, although further information regarding this project may be some time away.

Atomic Heart is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
