Summary
Fear the Walking Dead season 8 will have a definitive ending, not setting up more spinoffs for the zombie franchise.
The final six episodes will tie up the storylines of all the main characters in the show. Though certain aspects of the show may be present in potential spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead concludes definitively, paying tribute to both the show and its cast.
Fear the Walking Dead executive producer Michael E. Satrazemis has addressed speculation about the series finale leading to more spinoffs for the zombie franchise. In the second half of Season 8 of the long-standing spinoff, Madison Clark will face her old nemesis Troy Otto as she strives to create a safe haven at PADRE for her people. The final six episodes will also provide resolutions for all the major characters on the show. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Satrazemis clarified that Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 will have a conclusive ending and will not serve as a launchpad for additional spinoffs. While certain elements from the show may appear in other parts of the zombie franchise, the series itself will reach a definitive conclusion.
Scott Gimple, the chief content officer of The Walking Dead, has done an excellent job of intertwining the shows and establishing a connection between them. He has shown his expertise in this regard. However, I believe that this connectivity has reached its ultimate conclusion. It no longer serves the purpose of enhancing or progressing the story; instead, it simply signifies its end. This approach of giving the show a fitting tribute feels incredibly satisfying to me.
The universe possesses a unique ability to constantly generate new stories and has a compelling force that can bring diverse elements together once more. Personally, I believe that Fear has reached a truly remarkable and graceful conclusion, which pays homage to the show and its talented cast.
Why Fear The Walking Dead Should Have A Definitive Ending
The final villain in Fear the Walking Dead is Troy, who appears with Alicia's makeshift arm. His attack on PADRE will not only result in a final battle between the core survivors and an antagonist, but it could also provide answers about what happened to Madison's daughter. In season 7, Madison's daughter was last seen, and it remains unclear if she succumbed to radiation poisoning, was killed, or is still alive somewhere near Texas.
Considering that the final episodes will address the fate of every major character who is either living or unaccounted for, it makes sense for the show to bring its story to a definitive end. While this means that characters like Victor Strand won't have a chance to interact with Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, it does ensure that their individual stories will reach an appropriate stopping point. The conclusion of the show may leave us uncertain about who survives and who perishes, but it also opens up the possibility for anything to happen.

Nevertheless, there are a few components from the previous episodes of Fear the Walking Dead that might find their place in other spinoffs. Particularly, Morgan and Mo, who departed from PADRE in season 8, episode 6 in pursuit of Rick, seem to be the most prominent among these elements. However, as per Satrazemis' statement, it appears that this might be the sole connection between the spinoff and any potential future ones.
