Two days later, Morse himself finds himself stuck on the same bus during a snowstorm, realizing that the killer is among the passengers. Unable to find alcohol to deal with his withdrawal symptoms, Morse must rely on his intelligence and knowledge to uncover the identity of the killer. Despite the concerns of those close to him who are aware of his addiction problems, Morse resists seeking help until he is forced to abstain on the bus.
Meanwhile, Sam Thursday (played by Jack Bannon) unexpectedly disappears in Northern Ireland, causing anxiety for his family and Strange. Ultimately, Morse discovers the true identity of the killer, who had been murdering the passengers one by one.
