Finally, the developers have addressed this request by acknowledging the ongoing progress of the Overwatch 2 story within the game, through the introduction of PvE missions. Furthermore, Blizzard has employed various methods to further expand the universe of Overwatch.
The Overwatch developers not only released short stories, novels, comics, and animated shorts but also introduced a mini-series on YouTube as a prelude to the Invasion PvE content in Season 6. However, fans have been expressing their desire for additional content.
In a recent interview, Executive Producer Jared Neuss revealed that Overwatch might have a Netflix anime similar to Cyberpunk and Castlevania. However, his response may not meet the expectations of players.

Blizzard has discussed the possibility of an Overwatch anime series on Netflix, according to Neuss during an interview with GameSpot. However, the development team has emphasized that their main focus is on Overwatch 2 and ensuring its excellence. Neuss stated, "We have explored numerous ideas for expanding this world, and there are limitless possibilities for where we can take these characters. But our immediate priority is to continually improve and refine Overwatch 2, making it the ultimate gaming experience."
So while a full Overwatch anime hasn’t been confirmed just yet, Neuss further noted that the devs are experimenting with different ways to tell stories in 2024.
"We have exciting plans for the upcoming year, with a focus on introducing innovative content. In the near future, we hope to delve deeper into discussing these exciting developments. It seems that the possibilities for expanding our virtual world are endless, as we have an abundance of impressive ideas. As the team prepares for the release of new PvE content in 2024, building on the suspenseful conclusion of Invasion, we eagerly await to see what they have in store. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a multitude of thrilling in-game experiences."
