Austin Butler and Ashley Tisdale have been friends for over ten years. They first met in 2009 while working on the movie Aliens in the Attic. Then, in 2011, they appeared together again in the High School Musical spinoff film, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.

I have been friends with Ashley Tisdale for about three or four years. It was so much fun to go to work every day and just enjoy ourselves together," the actor shared with Girl magazine during their collaboration with the Disney Channel star.

Later in the same year, Butler began a relationship with Tisdale's good friend Vanessa Hudgens. After nearly nine years together, the Carrie Diaries actor and Hudgens decided to end their relationship in 2020. Despite this, Tisdale and Butler remained close friends.

Tisdale expressed her admiration for the effort Butler puts into their friendship, especially after she had her daughter Jupiter with husband Christopher French.

"He has always made the effort to FaceTime and be involved in her life," she told Us in March 2023. "It's really important to me and he has always been able to do that, which I find really sweet."
