Some anime characters with different tropes are more popular than others, but those with a sister complex are often disliked. The trope, also known as "siscon," depicts characters with an unhealthy obsession and attachment to their sister, leading to a widely negative interpretation.

Yuri Briar and six other anime characters with a sister complex
1) Aquamarine Hoshino (Oshi no Ko)

Obsessed with his sister Ruby Hoshino, Aquamarine Hoshino from Oshi no Ko took extreme measures to prevent her from joining any random idol group. He even enrolled in the same high school as her to keep a close watch on her. In the manga, he went as far as threatening Taishi Gotanda when he thought the Director was pushing Ruby too hard during the filming of 15 Year Lie, making him a clear example of an anime character with a sister complex.
2) Gauche Adlai (Black Clover)

Gauche Adlai from Black Clover is extremely fixated on his younger sister Marie, to the point where he could be considered the quintessential anime character with a sister complex. He often brings up his sister in conversation, always emphasizing her cuteness.
Whenever he sees Marie, her adorableness causes him to have a nosebleed. Aside from merely admiring her, Gauche takes his obsession a step further by crafting statues of her in his free time.
3) Yuri Briar (Spy X Family)

Yuri Briar's relationship with his sister, Yor Forger, is a source of entertainment for fans. Whenever he's around her, his logical thinking goes out the window. His overwhelming obsession with his sister drives him to constantly plot the arrest of her husband, Loid Forger, believing that removing him from her life will leave her all to himself.
Furthermore, Yuri Briar goes to great lengths to keep his sister happy, even if it means lying to her about her cooking and enduring some of the most unpleasant meals.
To put this into perspective, the Forger family dog, Bond, went on a life-threatening mission just so that he could eat food prepared by Loid instead of Yor.
4) Ui Ui (Jujutsu Kaisen)

The character Ui Ui from Jujutsu Kaisen may be a recent addition to the anime, but he quickly becomes known for his intense sister complex. He is completely devoted to his older sister Mei Mei and is willing to fulfill her every request, even at the cost of his own life.
5) Lance Crown (MASHLE: Magic and Muscles)
Furthermore, Ui Ui displays a strong aversion towards anyone who causes inconvenience or shows disrespect to his sister. This was clearly demonstrated through his unfriendly demeanor towards Yuji Itadori during their first encounter in Shibuya. His deep attachment to his sister also results in him feeling horrified when she is in danger, and he never fails to show his admiration for her whenever she manages to overcome challenges.
The character Lance Crown can be seen in Mashle: Magic and Muscles, as portrayed by A-1 Pictures. Much like Gauche Adlai, Lance is known for carrying a picture of his little sister Anna Crown and even creates merchandise inspired by her. Interestingly, he also tries to mimic his sister's voice while gazing at her photo.
Lance's devotion to his sister knows no bounds, and he would go to any lengths to protect her. She was the driving force behind his ambition to become a Divine Visionary, as he was determined to rescue her from the clutches of the Bureau of Magic.
6) Jun'ichirō Tanizaki (Bungo Stray Dogs)
The image above captures Jun'ichirō Tanizaki as depicted in Bungo Stray Dogs by BONES.
Jun'ichirō and Naomi Tanizaki not only have a strong bond with each other, but they openly display their relationship despite being siblings. Although Jun'ichirō may appear hesitant about their situation, his unmistakable sister complex is evident.
7) Tatsuya Shiba (The Irregular at Magic High School)
It is apparent that, despite his carefree nature, the character exhibits extreme violence and a thirst for blood when it comes to anyone who harms his sister. He has explicitly stated that concepts like morality, ego, and pride hold no significance to him when it comes to ensuring Naomi's safety.
Tatsuya Shiba, as depicted in The Irregular at Magic High School (Image via Madhouse), is characterized by his unconventional bond with his sister Miyuki. Their relationship extends beyond typical sibling dynamics and hints at something more profound. This unique connection can be attributed to Tatsuya's experience with experimental manipulation by his aunt, which resulted in the suppression of all emotions except for his deep familial attachment to Miyuki.
Tatsuya is driven by these emotions to constantly strive to bring joy to his sister. He also becomes enraged when anyone causes harm to her. Furthermore, he is left speechless by Miyuki's beauty.
These are just a few examples of anime characters with a strong affection for their sisters. If you think we've overlooked any, please share in the comments below.

As a hard fan of anime, I find the exploration of the complex bond between anime characters and their sisterly obsessions to be a fascinating topic. The article provides insightful examples of characters who exhibit a range of behaviors and attitudes towards their sisters, from extreme protectiveness and devotion to unhealthy attachment and control.
While some of these characters may be seen as problematic or even disturbing, they also offer a glimpse into the complexities of human relationships and the ways in which sibling dynamics can shape a person's personality and actions. It is important to approach these characters with a critical eye and to recognize the potential negative consequences of their behavior, but they can also provide valuable insights into the human condition and the challenges of navigating complex family relationships.
