Princess Kate Middleton discovered her love for photography while capturing birthday portraits of her three children. She shares sons Prince George and Prince Louis and daughter Princess Charlotte with her husband, Prince William. Each year, to celebrate their kids' birthdays, William and Kate release a new portrait. Over time, Kate began taking the photos herself, opting for casual settings to capture George, Charlotte, and Louis instead of traditional photo sessions.

Royal family photographer Samir Hussein shared with Us exclusively in May 2020 that Kate Middleton has a talent for photography.

According to Hussein, Kate's photos demonstrate a skill level above the average person. He expressed his admiration for her keen eye and photography abilities, stating that he is thoroughly impressed by her work.

Queen Camilla noticed Kate's emerging talents and chose her to photograph her for the cover of her 2022 profile in Country Life magazine in the U.K.

Editor Mark Hedges shared that when Queen Camilla mentioned wanting "Catherine" to do the cover photos, he initially tried to think of a professional photographer by that name. It took him a few minutes to realize she was referring to Kate, which he found to be an amazing opportunity. He quickly agreed to the idea.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Kate launched her Hold Still project with the National Portrait Gallery to demonstrate the “power of photography” during a challenging time.

"We've all come across incredible images and heard amazing stories - some really sad ones, but also some uplifting ones," she mentioned while appearing on the U.K.'s This Morning. "I hope that through this project, we can highlight and share some of these stories, capturing a moment in time that we're all going through."

In the interview, Kate reiterated that she considers herself an "amateur" but shared a few tips she has learned along the way.

During the lockdown, I spent a lot of time picking up my camera and taking photos of the children because they are always with us when we do things together. One of the great things about photography is capturing real moments without staging or setting up a perfect studio. It's about capturing moments that feel authentic to you.
