Get ready, because everyone's beloved killer is making a comeback!
Back in February 2023, Showtime and Paramount+ thrilled fans by revealing plans for a prequel series to the hit thriller Dexter, which originally aired from 2006 to 2013. This new series will take viewers 15 years back in time to meet a younger Dexter and discover the roots of his dark tendencies, all while delving into the dynamics of his family. The cast members were finally unveiled in May 2024.
Dexter, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, became a pop culture icon known for assisting Miami police in solving murders during the day and taking justice into his own hands by night. The original series received numerous Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and led to the spinoff New Blood, featuring Hall, which aired from 2021 to 2022.
After the conclusion of New Blood, Hall hinted at his future involvement in the franchise. In a 2023 interview, he mentioned, "I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to play a young Dexter at this point. I believe that ship had sailed even before we began filming the original series, but I am open to the possibility."
Exciting news for Dexter fans! While it's still early days, there's talk about a possible new installment. Executive producer Clyde Phillips mentioned that they are exploring ideas for the character. Never say never, right? Let's see what they have in store for us.
