Fans eagerly awaiting Pikmin 4 now have the opportunity to play a free demo with exciting rewards, including a Pikmin Bloom crossover. This exciting news comes shortly after the release of the game's latest trailer, which unveiled a groundbreaking feature never before seen in the franchise.
Since its initial launch on the GameCube in 2001, the Pikmin series has captivated fans. While the mainline series has not seen a new installment since Pikmin 3 on the Wii U in 2013, Nintendo has released re-releases and spinoffs over the past decade. One such spinoff is Pikmin Bloom, a mobile game developed by Niantic, the team behind Pokemon GO, which was released in 2021.
With Pikmin 4 just around the corner, players can now get their hands on a highly anticipated sequel with a complimentary playable demo. By completing this demo, players will earn a free Oatchi-Rider Costume, which can be utilized in Pikmin Bloom. This exciting 4.8GB demo is already available for download worldwide. Nintendo has confirmed that the save file from the demo can be transferred to the full game. In the demo, players have the opportunity to create and personalize their Pikmin 4 characters. They can then embark on the initial portion of the game's story mode, where their main objective is to collect 1,500 units of energy before the first in-game day concludes. Furthermore, the demo not only provides a glimpse of the renowned blend of real-time strategy (RTS) and puzzle gaming that the series is known for but also offers support for two-player cooperative play.
The Pikmin 4 demo will be available for play at select Nintendo partner retailers worldwide from July 7 to October 19. Upon completion in-store, players will receive a QR code that can be scanned for 200 My Nintendo Platinum Points. However, the promotional exhibit for the demo will only be accessible in the United States at participating retailers such as Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart.
In addition, Nintendo is currently offering a promotion where pre-ordering the digital version of Pikmin 4 will earn players 10% of the game's purchase price in My Nintendo Gold Points, double the usual loyalty bonus rate. This means that purchasing the game at full price will reward players with 600 Gold Points, equivalent to a $6 discount that can be used towards the purchase of other eShop titles and DLC. If players pre-ordered Pikmin 4 before the promotion, the extra points should already be credited to their account. It is unclear how long this offer will be available after the game's release on July 21, but it is likely to be for a limited time.
The exclusive Pikmin Bloom costume will be available indefinitely, unlike the Nintendo Gold Points promo. Players can also redeem the same bonus item from the My Nintendo Rewards website after completing the first day in the full game, even without playing the Pikmin 4 demo. Pikmin 4 is set to launch on July 21 for Nintendo Switch.
