This Airbnb listing in the Scottish Highlands is a unique exception to the usual demand for vacation rentals. It is a faithful recreation of the enchanted home of DreamWorks Animation's beloved ogre, Shrek - complete with a mud-laden, moss-covered, and murky-watered swamp ambiance.
Shreks "swamp" is located on the grounds of Ardverikie Estate, a 19th-century Scottish mansion in the Scottish Highlands, some 60 miles south of the city of Inverness.

While vacationers will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Highlands, their stay at Shrek's house will not incur any charges. Additionally, Airbnb has committed to making a one-time donation to HopScotch Children's Charity, a non-profit organization that arranges vacations for underprivileged and disadvantaged children in Scotland.
This offering is the most recent addition to Airbnb's collection of unique promotional listings inspired by TV shows and films. In previous years, visitors in Paris were given the opportunity to reside in a luxurious room within the Moulin Rouge, featuring interiors inspired by the Baz Luhrmann movie. More recently, fans of Barbie had the chance to rent a room in a house in Malibu, California, modeled after the Barbie DreamHouse.

Imagine a setting filled with wooden furniture, adorned with tree trunk accents, and surrounded by a lush forest. And just like something out of a Shrek movie, the bathroom is conveniently situated 20 meters away from the main building.
Furthermore, the vicinity is brimming with exciting attractions and activities. Marvel at the breathtaking Loch Laggan, which is embraced by majestic hills, or venture into the untamed charm of the Cairngorms National Park.
Reasons to Choose Fall Travel in Europe Instead of Summer:
Ardverikie Estate, known for its appearances in popular films like "No Time To Die" and TV shows including "Outlander," "The Crown," and "Monarch of the Glen," is an enticing destination for autumn travels in Europe.
The original "Shrek" movie won the 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and since then, the franchise has consistently produced sequels, spin-offs, and even tourist attractions.
For those devoted "Shrek" fans who are unable to visit the actual swamp, they can still experience the magic at Shrek's Adventure in London. This immersive and themed attraction is located on the city's Southbank, right next to the iconic London Eye and the city's aquarium.
