Dominik's childhood connection to the infamous Eddie Guerrero storyline has resurfaced, unveiling the mystery behind the game he used to play backstage as a child. The amusing parallel between his childhood game choice and his current persona as a notorious wrestler in WWE has delighted fans.

WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio has finally revealed the game he was playing on his PlayStation Portable during his earlier TV appearances, putting an end to an 18-year-old mystery. The son of the legendary luchador wrestler Rey Mysterio, Dominik made his debut as a professional wrestler in 2019 and has since been featured as a playable character in WWE 2K22 and WWE 2K23. Recently, he has gained notoriety as part of the villainous Judgment Day faction, alongside Rhea Ripley, and has become one of the most despised heel wrestlers on the current roster due to his emotionally charged feud with his father earlier this year.

However, this is not the first high-profile storyline that Dominik has been a part of. Going all the way back to 2005, Rey Mysterio was embroiled in a fierce rivalry with the late wrestler Eddie Guerrero. In the midst of their feud, eight-year-old Dominik found himself caught in the middle. Guerrero alleged that he was Dominik's biological father and contested custody of the young boy. This led to a ladder match at that year's SummerSlam pay-per-view, with the outcome determining Dominik's future.

This angle is widely regarded as one of the most notorious and peculiar storylines in WWE history. However, for the past 18 years, fans have been unaware of a small but significant detail. In certain backstage segments, an adolescent Dominik could be spotted engrossed in a PSP game. Fast forward a couple of decades, and an older Dominik appeared on Xavier Woods's gaming-centric YouTube channel, UpUpDownDown. He joined a group of fellow wrestlers in playing video games backstage. During their conversation, the topic of the game Dominik played backstage in 2005 arose. Surprisingly, he disclosed that he may have been indulging in Grand Theft Auto during one of his appearances from all those years ago.

To be more specific, Dominik was immersed in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, the spin-off title for the PSP. This installment hit the market shortly after Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero's highly publicized custody battle for Dominik aired on television. As the first 3D Grand Theft Auto game for a handheld device, it served as a prequel to the influential Grand Theft Auto 3. Set in the fictional city of Liberty City, the game delved into the backstory of the infamous mob boss, Toni Cipriani, as he climbed the ranks of the Leone crime family. Liberty City Stories received overwhelmingly positive critical reception and eventually became the best-selling PSP game of all time.

When Dominik Mysterio was just eight years old, he played Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on his PlayStation Portable. Little did anyone know that this young boy, who spent time with his father backstage during his first televised appearances in WWE, would later become one of the promotion's most notorious wrestlers. Surprisingly, there are some amusing similarities between the criminal activities in GTA and "Dirty" Dom's subsequent mischievous behaviors as a member of The Judgment Day, including his current reign as the NXT North American Champion.
