Burst Angel is a reimagining of the popular anime series created by Gonzo. It revolves around four skilled mercenaries and a university student who find themselves embroiled in a dangerous underworld. The original Burst Angel anime ran for a total of 24 episodes in 2004, while the manga series, known as Angel's Adolescence, has been licensed by Tokyopop and is now published by Titan Comics.

Titan Comics recently announced their acquisition and anticipated release date for the English publication of Minoru Murao's Bakuretsu Tenshi (Burst Angel) manga. Originally published by Tokyopop, the first volume of Burst Angel under Titan Comics' Titan Manga imprint is scheduled for release next year.

Adapted from the acclaimed anime produced by Gonzo, the Burst Angel manga was initially published by MediaWorks, a well-known Kadokawa affiliate recognized for their various Dengeki imprints, notably Dengeki Bunko. The first volume of Burst Angel will be available for purchase on May 21, 2024, and is currently open for pre-order through Amazon. Fans can also enjoy streaming the Burst Angel anime series on Crunchyroll.

The Burst Angel anime series was created by Fumihiko Shimo, known for his work on adaptations of Key visual novels such as Kanon, Air, and Clannad. It was directed by Koichi Ohata, who has experience as a storyboard artist for Healin' Good Pretty Cure. Set in the future, the series explores a society where the Japanese government allows civilians and the police to carry firearms due to a rise in crime.

In this world, a specialized police force called the Recently Armed Police Force (RAPT) takes a more aggressive approach to crime, prioritizing the elimination of criminals rather than capturing or subduing them. The narrative revolves around four mercenaries - Jo, Meg, Sei, and Amy - as well as Kyohei Tachibana, a male college student with aspirations of attending culinary school.

Caught in the middle of a gunfight between Jo and a gangster, he unexpectedly finds employment as a cook for the mercenaries hired by a group called Bailan. His main goal? Saving up enough money to journey to France. However, Kyohei quickly realizes the immense challenges ahead as the group sets out to uncover the truth behind disturbing creatures causing chaos in Tokyo.

The anime aired for 24 episodes between April and September 2004, accompanied by an OVA called Burst Angel Infinity in 2007. Murao created a prequel manga series titled Angel's Adolescence, which ran for three volumes in Dengeki's shonen magazine, Dengeki Comic Gao!, from January 2004 to June 2005. The series concluded in August 2005.

Originally, Tokyopop held the license for distributing the manga in North America from September 2008 to May 2009. However, in 2023, Titan Comics obtained the licensing rights, and the first volume is expected to be released in May 2024.
