Celtic secures long-term future with winger Daizen Maeda extending his contract for four more years, joining Kyogo Furuhashi in committing to the club Jota's departure to Al-Ittihad for £25m adds intrigue to Celtic's summer transfer window Stay updated with Sky Sports

Celtic's winger, Daizen Maeda, has recently sealed a fresh four-year agreement with the reigning champions of the Scottish Premiership. This announcement follows closely after striker Kyogo Furuhashi put an end to any uncertainty surrounding his future by committing to the Scottish champions until 2027.

The 25-year-old, who played for Japan at last year's World Cup, proved to be a crucial player for Celtic, scoring 11 goals in 48 games and contributing to their treble-winning season. He joined the team on loan from Yokohama F. Marinos in December 2021 and his move was made permanent the following summer. Looking ahead, he expressed his readiness for further triumphs.

He expressed his joy, stating that it is an extremely delightful occasion for him and his family. Ever since we relocated from Japan, both the club members and, without a doubt, the fans have been exceptional, and we are thoroughly enjoying our lives in Scotland.

Celtic holds a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to prolong my tenure here. From the moment I joined, I emphasized my ultimate ambition of clinching the league title, and we have accomplished that feat twice.

Winning the Treble last season stands as one of the pinnacle moments in my career, but we must now shift our focus to the upcoming season. Our objective remains unchanged: to diligently collaborate with the manager and bring triumph to both the club and our devoted supporters.

"We have three trophies to defend, and we also have Champions League football, so I am excited to get started."

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, expressed his admiration for Daizen, highlighting his impressive qualities such as high intensity, attacking mindset, and exceptional work rate both on and off the ball.

Recognizing his valuable contribution to the team, Daizen played a crucial role in securing yet another Treble for the club. Therefore, the club is delighted to announce that they have successfully secured a new deal with him.

Daizen's exceptional qualities make him an extremely thrilling player, and I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to collaborate with him. In addition, Rodgers has recently secured two fresh acquisitions upon his return to Parkhead: midfielder Odin Thiago Holm, who has transferred from Valerenga, and winger Marco Tilio, who has joined from Melbourne City.

Portuguese winger Jota completed a transfer worth £25m to Al-Ittihad, a Saudi club, while Aaron Mooy declared his retirement from professional football.
