Concerned users reached out to the developer for an explanation.
During the free game refresh on June 22, the Epic Games Store announced that The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos will be available for EGS users to claim for free from June 29 to July 6. This tactical RPG, released in 2020, is a parody of the fantasy genre and draws inspiration from popular series like Dungeons and Dragons. While users patiently await its availability as a free game, they can claim Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, another similar title in the genre, until June 29, along with theHunter: Call of the Wild. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of social media users, the game will not be accessible in certain regions.
In the r/EpicGamesPC subreddit, a Reddit user named kiwi_pro reached out to Artefacts Studio, the France-based developer of The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, to inquire about why players in countries such as Argentina, Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan would not be able to receive the tactical RPG for free on the Epic Games Store starting from June 29. Artefacts Studio responded stating that the game would not be available for claiming on the Epic Games Store in regions where it is not being sold.
When asked about the specific regions that were excluded, the original poster mentioned that Artefacts Studio mentioned the presence of regional pricing in certain countries as the reason. However, despite the game not being accessible on the Epic Games Store for these users, some Redditors pointed out that The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos can still be found on Steam and modern consoles, with regional pricing options offered in those nations. Therefore, it appears that only the Epic Games Store has been affected by this decision made by the developer.
Epic Games has not provided any comment on the current situation. Unless there are any unexpected alterations, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos will be offered as a complimentary download on the Epic Games Store in the upcoming week.
