To commemorate the release of "Ad Astra Per Aspera," Celia Rose Gooding, known for her role as Ensign Nyota Uhura in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, shared a lighthearted snapshot of the cast. The photo captures the ensemble gathering for a selfie in the transporter room of the USS Enterprise, with a cheerful "Welcome Home!" message displayed in the background. This behind-the-scenes moment signifies that the cast was united while filming one of the final scenes for the second episode of Strange New Worlds season 2. Be sure to take a look at Celia's Tweet and accompanying photo below.
Strange New Worlds Season 3 Is Delayed By The Writer's Strike
The production of the 10 episodes for season 2 of Strange New Worlds was completed in 2022. However, the wait for season 3 may be prolonged due to the ongoing strike by the Writer's Guild of America, which has resulted in the shutdown of the movie and TV industry. Originally scheduled to begin filming in May, Strange New Worlds, along with other productions, is unable to move forward until the dispute between the writers and the studios and streaming services is resolved.
Despite the delay, the cast of Strange New Worlds, as well as other actors from Paramount+'s Star Trek series, are firmly supporting the Writer's Guild of America. Recently, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Jess Bush stood in solidarity with the writers by joining the picket line in New York City. While new episodes cannot be filmed, the cast continues to participate in conventions and events such as the Outright International 27th Celebration of Courage Awards and Gala in May. During this event, Bush, Gooding, and Navia celebrated their Star Trek: Discovery colleagues Wilson Cruz, Anthony Rapp, and Blu del Barrio. However, the cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds eagerly anticipates the opportunity to return to the Starship Enterprise and resume filming for season 3, hopefully in the near future.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 streams Thursdays on Paramount+.
