What's Going On With Spider-Man 4?
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are currently in the process of developing Spider-Man 4 as a sequel trilogy for Holland's character, following the tremendous box office success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, updates on the project have been scarce due to various factors. One significant obstacle is the absence of a new director, as Jon Watts will not be returning to helm Peter's next installment.
Conversations between Holland and Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have taken place, but progress on Spider-Man 4 has been hindered by strikes from the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. While the WGA strike has ended, the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing due to suspended negotiations with the AMPTP. As a result, Spider-Man 4 currently lacks a release date and may not be released until Phase 6, assuming the SAG-AFTRA strike concludes soon.
After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures face high expectations as they continue Peter's story in the MCU. Spider-Man 4 will mark a new beginning for Peter as he ventures on his own, potentially leading to an intriguing chapter for the web-slinger. Meanwhile, while awaiting the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, audiences can still enjoy Spider-Man: No Way Home and the other Spider-Man movies through streaming or on Blu-Ray/DVD.
