Exclusive: Joel Schumacher Cut Verdict Revealed After Special Screening with Kevin Smith – Prepare to Be Blown Away!

Fans' demand for the Joel Schumacher cut of Batman Forever intensifies as Kevin Smith's screening unveils a thrilling version, fueling the campaign for Warner Bros to release it

After the late Joel Schumacher's true vision of Batman Forever was viewed by select audiences, fans took to social media to share their exciting reactions, emphasizing the distinction between the Schumacher cut and the campy theatrical version.

Smith's announcement of the Batman Forever Schumacher cut ignited the passion of fans who have been advocating for this alternative version ever since news broke about its existence. Following a detailed review of the alternate cut, Smith recently organized a private screening for a chosen group of fans. The reactions to the Schumacher cut further validate previous claims about its quality, although some adjustments would be necessary for a worldwide release, requiring Warner Bros. Discovery to invest additional funds in improving the Batman movie.

The Schumacher cut screening received a positive reception at Smodcastle Cinema on July 1st. The biggest improvement noted was in Bruce Wayne's arc, which is said to have a slower pace and allows the film to delve deeper into themes of dual identity and psychological complexities. This cut runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes, different from the previously reported Batman Forever Schumacher cut runtime.

Currently, the Schumacher cut is a work print that would require additional VFX and the original score. However, it would require much less effort compared to Zack Snyder's Justice League. Unfortunately, similar to the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad, which has also not been released despite years of campaigning from fans, the cast, the crew, and Ayer himself, the Schumacher cut may not be a priority for a company like WBD. This is because they are in debt of around $49 billion, have experienced financial losses in their latest DC films, and have even canceled Batgirl for a tax write-off.

Other platforms may be interested in investing time and resources in these alternate cuts, especially during the writers' strike and WBD's strategy to lease DC IP to third-party streaming services. Whether it is under the current regime at WBD or future management, it appears to be a straightforward decision to eventually release these highly sought-after alternate cuts, as long as fans continue to show demand. As for the Schumacher cut, there is a final screening scheduled for August 25th at Smith's cinema, which is expected to generate more reactions and further increase the demand for its release.
