In the forthcoming Deadpool 3, Marvel will venture into the peculiar realms of its universe, exploring the enigmatic past of the X-Men. With this in mind, the film may leverage the distinctive origins of Cassandra Nova to add an intriguing dimension.
Emma Corrin's villain role in Deadpool 3 has been revealed amidst much speculation. The production of the highly anticipated film has been surrounded by rumors. Fans have eagerly awaited the introduction of the Merc with the Mouth into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with excitement growing. Notably, the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine has been the most significant news so far. Despite his character's brutal demise in James Mangold's gritty Logan, set pictures indicate that Jackman's incarnation of Wolverine may not be the aged Old Man Logan but rather a variant, based on his comic-accurate costume.
Despite the current hold on production due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, there is still news circulating about the upcoming Deadpool 3 film. One of the recent updates involves the casting of Corrin, who is rumored to play the character Cassandra Nova. According to a tweet from CanWeGotSomeToast, Corrin's character is an unfamiliar one in live action, but a significant presence in the comics. Cassandra Nova is a formidable adversary who has clashed with Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X. In the comics, she is a "Mummudrai," an entity that serves as a person's complete opposite. While Xavier represents light, Cassandra embodies darkness. Due to Xavier's extraordinary psychic abilities, she gained similar power and even took on the form of his twin in the womb. Xavier, sensing her malevolent nature, attempted to kill her during pregnancy, resulting in a miscarriage. However, Cassandra survived and spent subsequent years reconstructing a body to seek revenge on her twin.
The upcoming Deadpool 3 is set to explore a unique and unconventional plot point within the Marvel universe that the X-Men franchise has yet to venture into. Unlike previous films, which typically focus on traditional superhero storylines, Deadpool allows for a deeper exploration of the X-Men's strange and intriguing history. Introducing a character like Cassandra would be pointless if her origins were not fully utilized. Furthermore, given Marvel Studios' recent success with projects like Loki and WandaVision, it seems that they are also open to introducing strong characters who have not yet appeared in the movies. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
