Jasmine Ellis Cooper and her husband Silas Cooper are enjoying a smooth-sailing marriage after a challenging summer on Season 1 of Summer House: Martha's Vineyard.
In an exclusive interview with We, Jasmine, 31, shared that they took the time to reflect on their relationship after their first summer on the show. She mentioned a conversation with Bria Fleming, saying, "We all get a chance to look at and be like, ‘What did I say? What did I do?’" Being on a show like this, they couldn't hide anything from the cameras, forcing them to address any conflicts and differences they had. They had to ask themselves, "Do you want to fix this or not?"
Jasmine and Silas, 32, have been married since June 2022 after meeting on a dating app several years prior. When Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard premiered in May 2023, they were the only married couple to go on the Bravo show. (Season 1 was filmed shortly after their wedding.)
She mentioned, “Fortunately, we were willing to put in the effort and make things right. It was a challenging journey, but we did manage to have some fun last summer.”
After a challenging first season on Bravo, Jasmine shared that she and Silas decided to focus on their relationship.
She expressed, "I believe that rediscovering our love for each other and getting to know each other again has brought us to where we are now. Things are going well. It has to be that way because he's deployed, and it would be difficult for us not to be in a good place while being so far apart. I'm grateful that we are doing okay...he's my best friend."
Silas is currently serving in the U.S. Army overseas, so he and Jasmine had to figure out how to make their long-distance marriage work.
Jasmine shared, "We use WhatsApp, FaceTime, and text messages a lot. We make sure to talk every other day. Whenever we have a few minutes or even just a few seconds, we always check in with each other."

Due to Silas' deployment, he missed the opportunity to be present for the birth of their first baby. Their son, Silas "Si" Geplay Cooper Jr., was born in February.
Jasmine jokingly mentioned how she recorded everything on screen and thanked her grandmother and doula for capturing as many moments as possible during the birth.
Jasmine can rely on her family to help care for baby Si, but she understands how challenging it is for Silas to be away from home and miss important moments.
She shared, "I honestly think it’s harder for Silas [than me] just because he’s watching him through pictures and videos and he’s changing. So when there’s new, they change so much every day, even for me. And so yeah, I know it’s tough for him. I know he’s counting down until he comes home."
According to Jasmine, Silas “better be home” by this forthcoming summer.
“Sir, I love [you] serving our country, but you need to be home come summer,” she joked with Us.
Silas couldn't participate in filming Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard season 2 due to his deployment, and his absence was noticeable to the cast.
Jasmine shared, "It was definitely a change. He would've been the only guy not in the boys' room. But I'm grateful for the chance to show my friends that I'm still here, regardless. We missed him, but I found comfort and fun with my friends."
Bria, 28, added her agreement with her friend, saying, "She was so much fun! She was the same and even more lit!"
Don't miss the premiere of Summer House: Martha's Vineyard on Bravo on Sunday, March 24, at 9 p.m. ET.
