Will Scotty Become Enterprise Chief Engineer On Star Trek: Strange New Worlds?

Exclusive Interview Reveals Exciting Details: Star Trek's Original Engineer Scotty Joins Strange New Worlds!

Lieutenant Montgomery Scott enlists on the USS Enterprise in the final episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, sparking curiosity about when he will ascend to the position of Chief Engineer. In the original Star Trek series, Scotty (played by James Doohan) already held the role of Engineering Head from the start, but it was never established canonically when he attained the promotion that defined his Starfleet career. However, in Strange New Worlds, Scotty is merely a Junior Grade Lieutenant, while Commander Pelia (portrayed by Carol Kane) serves as the Chief Engineer. Given these circumstances, it is clear that Scotty will not be overseeing Captain Pike's engine room anytime soon.

Scotty now joins the ranks of other iconic Star Trek: The Original Series characters in Strange New Worlds, such as Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck), Ensign Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), Dr. Joseph M'Benga (Babs Olusanmokun), and Lieutenant James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley). With Scotty's previous starship, the USS Stardiver, destroyed by the Gorn, there is a possibility for him to join the crew of Pike's Enterprise. Especially if Scotty and Pelia manage to construct a Gorn transponder to save the Enterprise. According to Henry Alonso Myers, Martin Quinn, who happens to be Scottish, was chosen for the role ahead of "30 to 50 actors." Scotty has already won the hearts of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fans, who eagerly anticipate the release of season 3.
