All episodes of Ms. Marvel were rewritten during production, according to Marvel Studios writer A.C. Bradley. Recently, Bradley took to Twitter to discuss the show's journey, particularly in relation to its release on ABC.
Marvel Phase 4 Behind The Scenes Reveals Better Explain The MCU Strikes
: In order to overhaul the scripts, Bradley and a group of other writers were brought in after the original writers of Ms. Marvel were let go by Marvel Studios. Interestingly, Bradley mentions that despite her contributions to the series, she was never compensated with a script fee, which only exacerbates the tensions surrounding the imminent 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.Marvel Studios' Phase 4 witness a striking division among fans, making it the most contentious phase in the MCU's history. With a staggering total of 18 releases, including movies and Disney+ projects, Phase 4 encountered various challenges that affected the overall caliber of Marvel's offerings in the past two years, manifesting as issues emerging from different aspects of their productions.
The MCU's Phases 1-3 comprised 23 movies over 11 years, while Phase 4 was only five projects away from matching that output. However, the rapid rate at which Phase 4 movies were released led to concerns about maintaining the usual high quality. This resulted in issues with VFX in several projects. As a result, Victoria Alonso, President of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation at Marvel Studios, was dismissed. Bradley's comments on the handling of Ms. Marvel's rewrites indicate that the studio's problems extend beyond VFX, with the story department being affected by poor payment practices. This sheds light on the reasons why writers went on strike and halted filming for projects like Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again, as they have grievances with Marvel Studios stemming from the Ms. Marvel situation.
