The highly-anticipated Game of Thrones prequel premiered in August 2022 and was an instant success, leading to the renewal of a second season just five days later. Filming for season 2 began in April, prior to the writers' strike in May. With the strike now resolved, Variety reports that season 2 is aiming for a summer 2024 premiere, and there are also expectations for a season 3 renewal.
