According to The Hollywood Reporter, Butler's lawsuit regarding the profits of Olympus Has Fallen has now been settled. The details of the agreement have not been disclosed. However, according to his contract, Butler was entitled to receive box office bonuses, 6% of the film's domestic revenue, 2% of its foreign revenue, and 10% of the net profits. Most recently, he returned in Angel Has Fallen (2019), where he finds himself on the run after being wrongly accused of an attack against the President. While London Has Fallen surpassed the original in terms of box office performance, earning a whopping $205.9 million, Angel Has Fallen had the lowest earnings in the franchise, making $146.7 million.

Despite the decrease in box office returns for the latest installment, plans are already in motion to continue the franchise with Butler as Banning. In 2019, it was announced that three more movies were in development, with the first one officially titled Night Has Fallen in 2020. Ric Roman Waugh, the director of Angel Has Fallen and a collaborator with Butler on Greenland and Kandahar, is expected to return to direct the upcoming installment.
