Highlights
Universe 7, with their newfound powers and techniques, would likely dominate a second Tournament of Power against the other universes.
Goku has mastered the True Ultra Instinct technique, honed since the initial tournament, enabling him to expertly employ both defensive and offensive skills, amplifying his effectiveness significantly.
Even though Vegeta's Ultra Ego technique is still a work in progress, it empowers him with immense strength and offensive prowess, rendering him an invaluable asset in the tournament.
The first Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super episode 97, "Survive! The Tournament of Power Begins at Last!" marked a significant moment in the history of the multiverse. Universes were pitted against each other, with the objective of Grand Zeno to eliminate weaker universes and preserve only the worthy ones. Ultimately, our Universe 7 emerged victorious, thanks to the Z-Fighters' efforts in surpassing their limits and defeating formidable opponents. Goku tapped into Ultra Instinct, Vegeta unlocked his Ascended Super Saiyan Blue form, and unexpected teamwork played a role.
Now, in the manga, time has passed, and even more powerful characters have appeared in Universe 7's main story. This has further elevated the strength of Goku and his friends. As a result, the overall mortal level of Universe 7 has risen to unimaginable heights, surpassing those that came before. If the Grand Zeno become bored or if unforeseen circumstances necessitate another Tournament of Power, it will be interesting to see how Universe 7 fares in a second tournament.
How will Universe 7 Perform?
Assuming that Universe 7 would dominate the second tournament is a reasonable expectation. In the previous Tournament of Power, which was closely contested with Universe 11, our heroes are now equipped with powers that may catch the other universes off guard. Following the subsequent events, the Saiyans of Universe 7 have acquired power-ups that surpass even the strongest opponent in the tournament, Jiren the Gray.
Previously, we witnessed Goku easily defeat Jiren with his Mastered Ultra Instinct technique. However, Goku has since refined and personalized this technique to suit his own strengths. With his newly developed True Ultra Instinct, Goku would be even more formidable in the second tournament. By combining the strengths of Ultra Instinct with his natural Saiyan abilities, instead of suppressing all emotions like the original form requires, Goku can fully unleash both defensive and offensive capabilities. This enhanced version allows him to prolong the technique's duration and exert less strain on his body. Overcoming the major drawback from his first encounter with Jiren, Goku's perfected technique promises even greater success this time.
Other than that, Vegeta has mastered a groundbreaking skill that puts him at par with Goku; the formidable Ultra Ego. Through Ultra Ego, Vegeta demonstrated the ability to engage in equal combat with, and even intimidate, Gas towards the conclusion of the arc, who was then considered the most dominant character we had ever witnessed. Although Vegeta has yet to fully refine it, Ultra Ego provided a significant enhancement to his overall strength, establishing him as an unparalleled offensive force. In the second tournament, any harm inflicted on Vegeta while employing this technique, whether direct or indirect, would only augment his subsequent attack, practically ensuring an elimination. In a setting like the Tournament of Power, where adversaries are numerous and assaults come from every direction, this technique would tremendously benefit Vegeta.
The Impact of Broly
When it comes to powerhouses, no one exemplifies it better than Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan. While we've only seen him in action in the 2018 movie, it's undeniable that he possesses immense power and potential. Surpassing even Gohan, Broly managed to outshine both Goku and Vegeta, even in their god forms, in a fierce battle against Gogeta. Remarkably, all this power comes from his sheer strength alone, without any formal training. In the manga, Broly is currently undergoing rigorous training to tame his LSS form. Once he achieves control, he may surpass even Goku and Vegeta in their ultimate forms. Acclaimed by Toriyama as the most formidable adversary Goku and Vegeta have ever encountered, Broly might possess enough strength to take on the entire Tournament of Power single-handedly!
Moving forward, let's discuss the highly favored hybrid Saiyan, Son Gohan. Despite achieving an impressive tally of 9 eliminations during the Tournament of Power, Gohan had been inactive prior to the event, resulting in a lack of practice in combat. However, Gohan's remarkable transformation, known as the Beast form, was witnessed in the Dragon Ball movie, Super Hero, propelling him to a similar level of power as Goku and Vegeta. With this newfound strength, Gohan effortlessly defeated the formidable Cell Max, showcasing his extraordinary might and incredible speed. Although we only caught a fleeting glimpse of this form in the movie, its astounding victory over Cell Max indicates its immense potency, undoubtedly cementing Gohan as a valuable asset if another Tournament of Power were to transpire.
New Faces
Introducing the new Orange Piccolo transformation, another exciting addition to the Super Hero movie franchise. This iconic form has long been adored by fans, bringing Piccolo to a power level comparable to the mighty Saiyans. No longer left in the shadows, Piccolo harnesses an extensive arsenal and astonishing power, making quick work of numerous opponents in the tournament. With the ability to grow into a giant and stretch his limbs, he further enhances his physical prowess, effortlessly eliminating multiple adversaries simultaneously.
Gamma 1, a potential addition to the Super Hero team, possesses incredible strength despite not having significant powers. Although he is currently not actively involved in the story, he could fill a minor role on the team by utilizing his status as the strongest Android. Gamma 1 has demonstrated his ability to hold his own against Ultimate Gohan, who surpasses even Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Alongside Majin Buu, Gamma 1 could contribute to taking down weaker adversaries and assume a supportive position.
Majin Buu, on the other hand, also plays a minor support role in the narrative. Although initially intended to participate in the first Tournament of Power, he overslept, leading the Z-Fighters to recruit Frieza instead. In his heavier 'fat' form, Buu possesses enough strength to push Goku into transforming into Super Saiyan 3. Moreover, it has been confirmed that Buu is capable of further training, potentially unlocking a taller and more muscular form that is even stronger. While this form has yet to be seen in action, we can speculate that it is comparable in strength to SS3 Goku. This allows both Buu and Gamma 1 to assume support roles against relatively weaker adversaries.
Where Do Things Stand?
Another potential addition to the 'what if...' team for the second Tournament of Power is Merus. Merus, who was once considered to become an angel, was responsible for training Goku in the mastery of Ultra Instinct. However, his decision to engage in a battle with Moro resulted in him violating the fundamental rule of being an angel, leading to his demotion. Nonetheless, Merus remains a master of Ultra Instinct, and having another user of this powerful technique could greatly benefit Universe 7.
Lastly, we have Granolah, a formidable Cerelian fighter who faced Goku and Vegeta in battle. With his impeccable deception, Granolah defeated Ultra Instinct Goku with a single strike and even managed to overpower Ultra Ego. Although he ultimately lost to Gas and does not have much time left, Granolah possesses incredible power and is renowned as one of the strongest characters in the entire series. His unique technique, utilizing his two powerful red eyes, allows him to fulfill a crucial role in the team as a sniper. This means that Granolah can eliminate or weaken opponents from a safe distance, while Gamma 1 and Buu provide protection from all directions.
Finally, Frieza, the biggest wildcard on the team, proved his interest in the first Tournament by joining. With his desire to rule his entire universe at stake, it was clear he would not sit idly by. However, this time is different from the previous Tournament of Power. Frieza now possesses an unparalleled power in his newly unlocked ultimate form called Black Frieza. This transformation was so potent that it effortlessly incapacitated even Vegeta and Goku in their strongest forms. Fans had never imagined that Frieza could surpass the divine techniques of Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego belonging to the Angels and Gods, yet he managed to do so with a single punch. His power level now stands unmatched and unimaginable.
Nevertheless, despite the immense strength of Universe 7's team, the true extent of power possessed by fighters from other universes remains unknown. We have never been shown their growth and development, leaving us with little knowledge. It is reasonable to assume, however, that these warriors would at least be on par with the strongest characters in Universe 7's team (excluding Frieza) to ensure compelling battles. Additionally, let's not forget about the four universes that did not participate in the previous tournament due to their already incredibly high mortal level. Regardless, the other universes must undergo intense training and preparation to have any hope of matching up against the formidable Universe 7.
