Exciting Update on Spine-Chilling Comic-Inspired Horror Series Revealed

Prepare to be terrified and moved as Scott Snyder describes it as 'Scary AF, lots of heart.'

The terrifying horror comic Wytches, which was originally released as a six-issue limited series from October 2014 to March 2015, is getting an animated television adaptation. The story follows a teenage girl who moves to a new town and encounters strange beings. It is written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by the artist known as Jock.

Prime Video announced in February 2023 that they will be adapting Wytches into an animated series. Following this announcement, Snyder has provided an update on the production.

The Rook family is at the center of the story, especially their teenage daughter Sailor. They decide to relocate to Litchfield, New Hampshire following a troubling incident involving Sailor and a school bully named Anne. There were rumors circulating that Sailor was involved in Anne's disappearance, leading to the family's decision to move. Despite the move, the unsettling rumors continue to haunt Sailor and her family.

The town of Litchfield holds supernatural secrets unknown to most of the residents. One such secret involves a tradition where individuals can pledge themselves to mysterious beings called wytches in a nearby forest, hoping to gain personal benefits. Sailor, a member of a family in the town, is captured and eventually pledged.

There were plans to adapt the comic Wytches into a feature film, with Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment production company expressing interest back in 2014. Despite the initial buzz, the project never came to fruition. However, there are indications that an animated version of the story is currently in development.

Editor's P/S:

I am excited to hear about the upcoming animated television adaptation of the terrifying horror comic Wytches. The story's premise, following a teenage girl who encounters strange beings after moving to a new town, has the potential to create a captivating and suspenseful series. The fact that it is written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by the artist known as Jock, known for their exceptional work in the horror genre, adds to my anticipation.

The news of the show's premiere in 2025 is both exciting and a bit distant. However, I believe that the wait will be well worth it if the series delivers on the promise of the original comic. I am also intrigued by the fact that this is not the first adaptation attempt, indicating the strong belief in the story's potential. I am eager to see how the animated format will translate the comic's chilling atmosphere and supernatural elements, and I hope that the series will do justice to the original material while also bringing its own unique vision.
