Today at MozCon 2024, Moz revealed new AI-powered features and updates for their products. The focus of the announcements was on updating tools to meet the evolving needs of SEO professionals.
Ethan Hays, Moz’s General Manager, recognized the significant changes in the search landscape over the past year. He emphasized the importance of helping customers navigate these challenges effectively.
Modern Tools For The Future Of SEO
Moz showcased a revamped version of STAT, its enterprise SERP tracking solution, and several usability improvements to the Moz Pro interface.
Willow Mack, SVP of Moz Enterprise, People Operations and Transformation, shared in an interview with Search Engine Journal that when they were improving their user interfaces, they focused on more than just aesthetics. Their goal was to enhance usability rather than just making things look nicer.
Mack highlighted the importance of making products more innovative and helping users access insights quickly and efficiently.
She also mentioned that the aim is to reduce the time and energy required to master the tool.
Moz AI
The company introduced Moz AI, a suite of tools designed to streamline workflows and enhance enterprise-grade data. Moz AI is a collection of three features integrated into Moz Pro:
Search Intent in Keyword Suggestions
Domain Search Theme
Domain Keyword Topics in Domain Overview
Moz is focused on “Augmented Intelligence” – using AI to enable and enhance human intelligence and insights rather than replace them.
The Search Intent feature in Keyword Explorer now has a new two-layer process that combines an ML classification model and a rules-based model. This helps to better understand where a searcher is in their journey and how to effectively target content to them.
In addition, the Domain Overview tool has been updated to include two new features. The first is Domain Search Theme, which uses language models to analyze a site's Google rankings and provide a dynamic overview of how Google perceives the site. The second feature is Domain Keyword Topics, which organizes a site's ranking keywords into up to five topics for quick insights into competition.
“We’re looking at AI by taking a thoughtful approach to it. We’re learning what this will look like for us in the industry and for SEOs,” Mack explained.
She continues:
At Moz Pro, our goal is to make accessing AI features simple and affordable. We aim to help users save time by providing quicker insights and allowing them to be more efficient throughout their workday.
Moz has introduced new Moz API plans to offer enterprise-quality data at more accessible and affordable prices. Customers can now access an expanded set of Beta endpoints starting at just $5 per month.
Mack expressed his excitement about the launch of the affordable API plan, emphasizing the importance of data in their work.
She adds that businesses are currently utilizing their Links API to enhance their tools. This has led to various use cases already being implemented, showcasing how people are creatively utilizing their data through the API.
20 Years Of Moz
As Moz celebrates its 20th anniversary, we asked Mack what she believes is the company’s most significant contribution to SEO.
She said the commitment to community and education is what resonates the most with her at Moz. Mack highlighted that Moz's product development is driven by feedback from SEO professionals.
She explains that their product roadmap and vision are heavily influenced by their customers. The overhaul of the STAT user interface was based on client feedback, and they followed the same approach with Pro.
MozCon is a great example of the company's community-building efforts. It truly brings together SEO professionals and fosters a sense of community. Providing a safe space for people to come and learn every year is one of the most significant things that Moz has done. It creates a space where individuals can learn from each other.
AI Ethics & Risks
Moz is committed to addressing the ethical issues surrounding AI, especially large language models. We understand the importance of managing the increasing amount of AI-generated content and being responsible members of the online community and the Google ecosystem.
MozCon 2024
Moz's goal is to assist SEOs in producing valuable, influential content that caters to searchers and engages them throughout their online experience. It is important to be mindful of Google's changing guidelines on AI-generated content and the dangers associated with excessive use of scaled content.
MozCon 2024, currently underway, will feature live demonstrations of these product enhancements. Attendees will experience the new features firsthand and interact with Moz experts.
