Bushiroad Games and Eighting, video game developers, unveiled the title and a promotional video for their upcoming Hunter X Hunter fighting-style game on January 6, 2024. The game was first announced in December 2023 but lacked details. Titled Hunter X Hunter Nen X Impact, the game's platform availability and fighting style are still undisclosed. However, the trailer hints at an arena-style fighting game, featuring characters from the series.
Hunter X Hunter game’s trailer reveals Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio, Hisoka, and Netero as characters
With Bushiroad Games known for its mobile releases and Eighting having a history of console publication, the platforms for the new Hunter X Hunter game remain unclear. However, fans can anticipate more information in the coming weeks and months after the release of the initial trailer.
The new trailer for the upcoming Hunter X Hunter game runs for about 30 seconds. It opens with Gon and Killua considering a duel, but Killua quickly dismisses the idea, suggesting a team battle instead. The trailer then introduces playable characters such as Leorio, Hisoka, Netero, and Kurapika.
The trailer appears to take place in the Heavens Arena depicted in the anime and manga series, but it's uncertain if the game will be an arena-style fighting game. Interest in arena-style games among fans of anime and manga franchises has waned, making this choice intriguing. Despite this, the release platforms and exact style of the upcoming Hunter X Hunter game were not revealed in the latest promotional material. The game's release date is also unclear, but a winter 2024 release is the earliest estimate.
Yoshihiro Togashi originally launched the manga series in 1988, and it made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Despite being currently on hiatus, Hunter X Hunter is still being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga has also served as the inspiration for two television anime series, two anime films, several OVAs, and numerous stage play adaptations.
As of the writing of this post, the manga went on hiatus in January 2023 after releasing ten chapters, following a prior hiatus. Togashi announced that the next chapter was completed in March 2023, but the series has not yet received confirmation for a return to serialization.
Be sure to keep up with all anime, manga, film, and live-action news as 2024 progresses.
Editor's P/S
As a Hunter X Hunter fan, I am thrilled about the announcement of the new game, "Hunter X Hunter: NEN X IMPACT"! The trailer looks amazing, and I can't wait to play as my favorite characters, Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio, Hisoka, and Netero. I'm also intrigued by the arena-style fighting gameplay. It's a unique concept for a Hunter X Hunter game, and I'm excited to see how it plays out.
I'm also curious about the platforms the game will be available on. Bushiroad Games is known for its mobile releases, while Eighting has a history of console publication. I'm hoping for a console release, but I'll be happy with a mobile version as well. Regardless of the platform, I'm confident that "Hunter X Hunter: NEN X IMPACT" will be a great game for fans of the series.
