Following four years of consistent updates, including a blend of fresh content and revitalized tracks from previous games, Nintendo recently divulged that Mario Kart Tour will cease to receive any further updates after its October 4th update. This announcement was conveyed through an in-game message that appeared for all players upon logging in, outlining the schedule for the upcoming three in-game events, or "tours." A brief paragraph following the schedule specifically confirms that the subsequent Battle Tour will signify the conclusion of any additional content being introduced to the game.
"Starting from 10/04/2023 (Wed), tours will now feature content from previous tours," states the message. "There will be no addition of new courses, drivers, karts, or gliders after the Battle Tour commences on 10/04/2023 (Wed). We hope you continue to enjoy your experience with Mario Kart Tour."
Since its launch in September 2019, the game has brought 50 fresh tracks to the series, with over 40 of them being inspired by real-world locations like New York, Tokyo, Berlin, and Paris. As part of the Booster Course Pass DLC, a few of these tracks have also been integrated into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. The list includes Paris Promenade, New York Minute, Sky-High Sundae, and Squeaky Clean Sprint.
Mario Kart Tour is available to download for free on iOS and Android devices.
