New Crops Added in 1.5

Ginger

Ginger is a pungent and spicy root that can be found growing naturally on Ginger Island. Players can obtain Ginger by using a hoe to forage through the island. Another way to acquire Ginger is by defeating Tiger Slimes in the Volcano Dungeon.

Ginger is a versatile ingredient and can be used to create Ginger Ale. Additionally, it can be used to make Ginger Pickles when placed in a Preserves Jar. It is worth noting that Ginger is the only "Forage" item that can be pickled. While not recommended for direct consumption, eating Ginger or consuming Ginger Ale can alleviate the Nauseated Debuff, which is inflicted when the player is attacked by a Putrid Ghost.

Pineapple

Pineapples are a deliciously tangy and sweet addition to the fruit crops in Stardew Valley. They can be grown from Pineapple Seeds and take approximately 14 days to fully mature. While they can be found all year round on Ginger Island, in the Valley they are only available during the Summer season.

After harvesting the pineapple, the plant regrows within 7 days, producing another juicy fruit.

In addition to enjoying the pineapple as a snack or using it in various recipes, one notable dish that features pineapple is the Tropical Curry. This exotic curry not only tantalizes taste buds but also provides players with a valuable Foraging +4 Buff when consumed.

Taro Root

The Taro Root, a starchy vegetable crop, is derived from the Taro Tuber. To ensure optimal growth, the Taro Tuber necessitates daily watering and a total of 10 days for full maturation, resulting in the production of Taro Roots. However, when the Taro Tuber is cultivated in close proximity to a water body, it experiences accelerated growth and matures into a Taro Root within 7 days. While Ginger Island provides year-round opportunities for cultivating Taro Roots, in the Valley, they exclusively thrive during the Summer.

Taro Root is a main ingredient of the traditional Poi recipe that can be prepared using the kitchen of an upgraded farmhouse.

Qi Fruit

The introduction of version 1.5 brought Qi Fruit, a new fruit crop exclusive to Mr. Qi's Crop Quest. Qi Fruit requires four days to grow from Qi Beans, which are easily obtainable all over Ginger Island while the quest is active.

Fiber Seeds

Players who successfully ship 500 Qi Fruit to Mr. Qi within the specified timeframe will be generously rewarded with 100 gems. Although the Qi Fruit lacks any noteworthy nutritional value and is not utilized in any recipes, its market value remains meager, with a sell price of only 1 g.

Fiber Seeds are craftable seeds that can be obtained from Linus in the mail after completing the special order Community Cleanup. One unique aspect of Fiber Seeds is that they can grow even in Winter. Once planted on tilled soil, they do not need daily watering and will fully grow in 7 days.

When a mature Fiber plant is harvested using a scythe, it will yield between 4 and 7 Fiber Seeds. Additionally, there is a 10% chance of receiving 1 packet of Mixed Seeds. However, it's important to note that if Fiber Seeds are not protected by a Scarecrow, they can be consumed by Crows.

New Trees

Mahogany Tree

Mahogany Trees are cultivated using Mahogany Seeds, which can be planted at any time of the year and have varying growth periods. When fertilized, these seeds possess a 60% probability of progressing to the subsequent stage each night, resulting in an average growth duration of around 7±2 days. Conversely, unfertilized seeds have lower chances of advancement and necessitate a longer time to reach maturity.

Banana Tree

Mahogany Trees offer a convenient and dependable supply of Hardwood, which was historically challenging to obtain. Using an axe to fell a single Mahogany Tree yields an impressive quantity of 8-13 pieces of Hardwood.

The Banana Tree is a fruit-bearing tree that yields a Banana daily in the summer season. Nonetheless, when planted on Ginger Island or inside a Greenhouse, Banana Trees bear Bananas throughout the year.

Banana Trees sprout from a Banana Sapling and require 28 days to reach their maximum maturity. They can exclusively grow in the middle of a 3x3 square, devoid of any other objects or terrain features like grass. While Bananas do not play a role in any quests, they are imperative for the preparation of Banana Pudding.

Mango Tree

Mango Trees are a type of fruit tree that shares similarities with Banana Trees. Just like Banana Trees, they take 28 days to fully grow and need a clean 3x3 grid to thrive. To cultivate a Mango Tree, you start with a Mango Sapling, and once it reaches maturity, it will bear fruits. During the Summer in the Valley, Mango Trees produce a single Mango every day.

However, Mangos can be cultivated throughout the year by planting a Mango Tree on Ginger Island or within a Greenhouse. These delectable fruits play a vital role in the preparation of Mango Sticky Rice, a delectable dish that grants players a Defense +3 Buff upon consumption.

A new Palm Tree variant

Ginger Island and the Calico Desert are home to Palm Trees in Stardew Valley. In version 1.5, the game introduced a unique variant of Palm Trees exclusively found on Ginger Island, giving them a distinct visual appearance compared to other trees. Unlike other trees, shaking this particular tree does not yield any seeds, preventing it from being planted elsewhere.

Stardew Valley is currently available on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
