The official website and X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Mr. Villain's Day Off anime unveiled a new promotional video on Friday, December 8, 2023, which revealed the anime's theme songs and release date. According to the latest trailer, the anime is scheduled to be released on January 7, 2024.
Based on author Yuu Morikawa's manga series of the same name, the Mr. Villain's Day Off anime has been in production since its announcement on February 24, 2023. The manga has been serialized on the Gangan Pixiv website since December 2018, and Square Enix has published five tankobon volumes.

The official team for the Mr. Villain's Day Off anime has released a new trailer, revealing that the comedy anime will debut on January 7, 2024 on TV Tokyo. It will also air on TV Osaka on the same date, and on BS Nippon TV on January 14, 2024.

The main character, Warumono, is highlighted in the newest trailer, depicting his daily life on Earth. The promotional video opens with Warumono observing a panda during his leisure time, pondering over the color of its tail.

After that, the PV showcases a collection of images of the main character delighting in panda-themed treats such as donuts and stuffed animals. In addition to Warumono, the brief video introduces other characters such as Rooney, Trigger, Akatsuki, Pink, and more.
The trailer also unveils the anime's opening and ending songs. Ivudot performs the opening theme "Yuho (Walk)" for Mr. Villain's Day Off anime, while GLASGOW sings the ending theme "Kyusoku Juden (Relaxation Charging)."

Shin-Ei Animation Studio and SynergySP Studio are collaborating on the anime under the direction of Yoshinori Odaka, with Midori Goto handling the series' composition and Tomomi Shimazaki designing the characters. The music composition is being overseen by Nobuaki Nobusawa.
In addition, the anime "Mr. Villain's Day Off" features a talented cast, including Shintaro Asanuma as Warumono and Soma Saito as Rooney. Yuichi Nakamura, known for voicing Satoru Gojo in "Jujutsu Kaisen," will play the role of Trigger, and Hiiro Ishibashi will voice Akatsuki.

Square Enix's MangaUP website is publishing Mr. Villain's Day Off manga in English and it describes the plot as thus:
"From another planet, an Evil Organization is plotting to seize control of Earth. The extraterrestrial known as the 'General' leads their relentless daily battles against Earth's defenders, risking life and limb. But today, the General is taking a rare day off. Stay tuned for further anime and manga updates as 2023 unfolds."
