Exciting 28 Days Later Sequel Update: A Promising Blast from the Past!

28 Days Later fans, rejoice! After almost three decades, a highly anticipated sequel might finally be on the horizon Stay tuned for the most promising update yet on the long-awaited continuation of this iconic post-apocalyptic franchise

28 Days Later director Danny Boyle, writer Alex Garland, and star Cillian Murphy give promising updates on the status of the highly anticipated third film, titled 28 Years Later. Released in 2002, 28 Days Later is a post-apocalyptic horror film set in the U.K. four weeks after a mysterious virus transforms citizens into zombie-like creatures. The film received positive reviews and enough commercial success to warrant a sequel, 28 Weeks Later, although Boyle, Garland, and Murphy did not participate in that project.

After several setbacks and uncertainties, it appears that a sequel, 28 Years Later, is finally nearing production. In a recent interview with Inverse, Boyle and Garland confirm that progress is being made behind the scenes. Read their comments below for more details.

Alex Garland had initially resisted the idea of creating a sequel to 28 Weeks Later due to certain aspects that bothered him. However, he eventually had a new idea for a different story set 28 years later. Danny Boyle also expressed interest in the concept and expressed a willingness to direct if Garland didn't want to take on that role.

Murphy expressed his excitement to rejoin the franchise in an interview with Collider, acknowledging the significant milestone they are nearing. Here is Murphy's comment:

"While discussing with Danny Boyle, I mentioned that we filmed the movie towards the end of 2000. Therefore, we are undoubtedly approaching the 28 Years Later mark. As I've consistently stated, I am eager and willing to participate. If Alex Garland believes there is a compelling script and Danny expresses interest, I would be thrilled to be a part of it."

More to come...
