When Virgin River returns for season 6, fans can anticipate an increase in romance and lighthearted fun. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith explained that while the upcoming season will feel lighter, it will still feature the complex twists and turns that are characteristic of the series.
Smith expressed his excitement to focus more on the romance of the series and give the fans what they want. Virgin River premiered on Netflix in 2017, and over the five subsequent seasons, viewers have seen the characters go through various life events. For the upcoming season 6, the focus will be less on the town's dramatic events and more on the romantic aspect of the series.
Moving forward, the focus of the drug storyline may diminish, as it felt a bit extreme and started to overshadow the show. Instead, the showrunner hopes to delve deeper into the romance between Mel and Jack, address Jack's PTSD, explore Doc's prognosis, and uncover the romantic future of other major characters in Virgin River.
