England Women Take Stand for Fair World Cup Bonuses, Pausing Discussions with FA on Eve of Tournament

England Women disappointed negotiations with FA over World Cup bonuses remain unresolved; discussions paused for now

England Women have expressed their dismay over the ongoing unresolved negotiations with the FA regarding World Cup bonus payments. However, they have decided to temporarily suspend discussions in order to prioritize their upcoming campaign, with their first game against Haiti just four days away. A statement released on captain Millie Bright's Instagram highlighted this decision by the Lionesses.

The squad expressed their disappointment that a resolution has not yet been reached regarding their concerns with the bonus and commercial structures, which were presented to the FA last year. They had hoped that discussions would lead to a solution prior to the start of the World Cup.

We consider the successful outcome of these discussions crucial for the growth of women's football in England, achieved through player input and a transparent long-term strategy.

As our opening game approaches, the Lionesses have chosen to temporarily halt the discussions, with the intention of resuming them after the tournament.

"As we shift our complete focus to the upcoming tournament, we share a deep sense of responsibility to promote the growth of the game. We firmly believe that every tackle, pass, and goal made during the matches will contribute to the important work we are dedicated to off the field.

With pride, passion, and unwavering determination, we eagerly anticipate representing our country in the World Cup. We sincerely appreciate your support."
