Teen Mom OG viewers will remember Lowell and Baltierra's emotional episode of 16 and Pregnant in 2010, when they gave birth to Carly and immediately placed her with her adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis. At the age of 16, the Michigan natives chose to adopt Carly due to their unstable home situations and financial insecurity.
Aside from Carly's arrival in 2009, Lowell and Baltierra, who got married in 2015, also have three daughters together: Novalee, 8, Vaeda, 4, and Rya Rose, 22 months.
The Conquering Chaos authors have finally shared a sweet family photo of Carly, marking the first time in years. The Davises' intention to keep Carly out of the spotlight and not reveal her face has meant a scarcity of pictures. In response to his wife's post, he expressed how indescribable his feelings are when he is with all of his beautiful girls. The abundance of pure, genuine love is sometimes overwhelming to the point of being unbearable.
Baltierra expressed his admiration for Carly and her relationship with her younger sisters, highlighting her intelligence, kindness, and sense of humor. He commended her parents for raising her so well and marveled at the joy of watching her interact with her siblings. Their bond was described as pure magic, with laughter echoing and hugs abundant. Baltierra admitted he never wanted this special time to end. Concluding his heartfelt tribute, he praised Lowell, whom he regarded as the strongest woman he would ever know and the best mother he had ever seen.
You are the reason this family exists! Your courage, love, wisdom, and intuition make you the extraordinary matriarch of our blessed family. ️ Lowell also mentioned that Carly is now taller than her.
The reality stars have long been open about how bittersweet and difficult Carly’s adoption has been on them over the years — as well as how it’s affected their children.
Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell opened up about their choice to place their daughter Carly for adoption during a November 2022 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. They shared this emotional revelation with their younger daughter Nova, who returned home from school in tears because she deeply missed her older sister.
"She expressed, 'I truly miss Carly.' Then she mentioned, 'I don't understand why we had to be separated,' Lowell shared with Baltierra at the moment.
On the other hand, Nova conveyed her viewpoint to her parents. "It seems as though she is my sister, yet I am unable to spend much time with her," she expressed. "Just imagine being separated from your own sister or brother."
After Lowell clarified that she was only 16 years old when she gave birth to Carly, an astonished Nova quickly realized, "You're not an adult." The young child exclaimed, "You should be, like, 40 or something!"
Providing more insight into their decision, Lowell explained why she and her husband chose to do what they did. "When Mommy discovered she was pregnant, Daddy and I had a discussion and realized that we couldn't properly take care of a baby at that time," she shared with her second-grader. "We didn't have vehicles, we were still in school, and we didn't have jobs."
Carly's parents, Lowell and Baltierra, along with their daughters, make it a point to celebrate Carly's birthday every year, apart from their regular visits. In May, Lowell took to Instagram to honor her eldest daughter, sharing heartwarming throwback photos. "This incredible little girl came into our lives 14 years ago!" Lowell wrote. "She may not realize how she has impacted and transformed so many lives. Happy Birthday, Carly! We adore you with all our hearts!"
