Emily Maynard's oldest daughter, Ricki, was only 6 years old when her mother took on the role of the lead in season 8 of The Bachelorette. Today, Ricki is celebrating her 18th birthday and Maynard humorously shared throwback photos of her daughter on her Instagram Story, jokingly asking if anyone has a horse tranquilizer for her.
To mark her daughter's significant birthday, the ex-Bachelorette decided to take her to a tattoo parlor. Captioning a second photo of Ricki reclining on a table while a skilled artist adorned her neck, Maynard wrote, "Engaging in grown-up activities."Courtesy of Emily Maynard/Instagram
Maynard welcomed her daughter Ricki in June 2005, less than a year after her fiancé, Ricky Hendrick, passed away in a plane crash. As a single mother, Maynard decided to participate in and ultimately win season 15 of "The Bachelor" with Brad Womack. Although their engagement on the show was short-lived, Maynard later became the lead on "The Bachelorette" in 2012. Following a brief engagement to Jef Holm, Maynard eventually found love and got married to Tyler Johnson.
In an exclusive interview with We in January 2014, Maynard shared the sweet proposal story: "He proposed to me at home and gave both Ricki and me rings. It was so sweet! Ricki loves him more than she likes me!" Maynard expressed their desire to get married sooner rather than later, as there is no point in waiting.
The author of "I Said Yes" and Johnson, 36, got married in November 2014. They have five children together: Jennings, 7, Gibson, 6, Gatlin, 5, Nola, 2, and Jones, 10 months. They kept Maynard's pregnancy a secret and their youngest son, Jones, was born in August 2022. In a November Instagram post, Maynard announced the arrival of Jones and shared that he was born with Down Syndrome. Despite the surprise, they find solace in God's plan and believe Jones will be a blessing to their family.
Jones, after being born, spent over a month in the NICU. Maynard expressed gratitude for his return home amidst the chaos, conveying immense love for him. She took the opportunity to extend her thanks to the staff at Levine Children's hospital, emphasizing their support for her family. Overjoyed by the news, Maynard eagerly shared pictures of Jones, referring to him as the ultimate source of happiness.
