The Councilors bring their unique backgrounds and stories, enhancing the immersion of the game's world. With a diverse selection of characters boasting various skills and identities, players have plenty of choices. Beyond offering bonuses and abilities to their factions, the Councilors also play a crucial role in shaping the game's narrative and lore. This incorporation brings an additional depth of engagement and immersion for players.
Shiro Games' Dune: Spice Wars immerses players in the role of a faction leader during the chaotic spice wars on planet Arrakis. Drawing inspiration from Frank Herbert's book series, this game combines intricate political schemes, intense battles, and intricate resource management in a hostile environment. Players must strengthen their territories, raise armies, and skillfully strategize to outmatch rival factions.
A critical element in formulating an effective strategy for each conflict lies in selecting Councilors. Before each battle in any game mode, players must choose two councilors from their faction, each with their own distinct bonuses and special abilities, to represent them.
10 Piter De Vries (Harkonnen)
Piter De Vries, a Mentat characterized by his twisted nature, can be described as a human computer. Unlike the typical individuals in the galaxy, this Harkonnen spymaster was created on the planet Tleilax without any ethical constraints or boundaries.
Piter possesses certain bonuses that set him apart. One such advantage is his capability to alter Stealth Probes, making them slightly less potent but enabling them to acquire +2 Intel in enemy territory. Additionally, Piter eliminates the necessity of producing Fuel Cells to sustain these probes. Moreover, Agents assigned to adversary factions provide a +20% increase in resources to Agents in fields unrelated to any faction.
9 Iakin Nefud (Harkonnen)
Iakin Nefud, the highly regarded Captain of the House Harkonnen Guard, is both a formidable warrior and an effective leader. However, due to his known dependence on Semuta, some members of the Harkonnen family have questioned his capabilities.
With Nefud serving on the council, the Harkonnen faction will receive a reimbursement of 50% of the unit cost in the event of their death. Rather than advancing in levels, units will acquire the trait of being "Used-Up," resulting in a 10% increase in the total reimbursement amount for each level gained.
8 Lingar Bewt (Smugglers)
Lingar Bewt, a savvy entrepreneur, focuses his primary business on the most crucial resource on Arrakis - Water - surpassing even the significance of Spice. His extraction methods have raised doubt to the extent that he was compelled to align himself with the Smugglers and form a partnership with their leader, Esmar Tuek.
Under the agreement, Lingar empowers the Smugglers faction with the ability to generate 13% of a village's water from the Underground Headquarters, while also divulging the location of Smuggling Stashes. Retrieving these stashes with units not only provides a healing effect of 50%, but also supplies additional resources to any units present in the area.
7 Duncan Idaho (Atreides)
As one of Duke Leto's most trusted men and a Swordmaster to House Atreides, Duncan Idaho was assigned the important role of the official ambassador to the Fremen. Aside from his formidable fighting abilities, he is highly regarded for his keen intellect and ability to assess situations.
Under Duncan's leadership, villages can be easily swayed to remain loyal to House Atreides through peaceful annexation or by maintaining 50 days of rebellion-free existence. This loyalty allows the villages to enjoy certain advantages, including a 10% reduction in upkeep costs, a 10% decrease in both recruitment time and costs for military units, and a 5% discount on annexing neighboring neutral villages.
6 Othelyn (Fremen)
Othelyn, an esteemed and adept Fremen warrior and tactician, is highly regarded for his unwavering allegiance and exceptional wisdom. After leaving Sietch Gara Kulon to join Stilgar in Sietch Tabr, Othelyn dedicated himself to honing his abilities, ultimately becoming a proficient leader.
Othelyn offers valuable advantages to all faction Military Units, including a 10% increase in Movement Speed and the esteemed trait of Sand Killers. This trait enhances the power of Military Units by 25% and effectively reduces damage received by 25%, rendering the formidable Fremen infantry even more formidable.
5 Hasimir Fenring (Corrino)
Having been denied admission by the Bene Gesserit due to a genetic fault, Hasimir Fenring found a new purpose as both a Mentat and Assassin under the leadership of Shaddam IV, the reigning authority of the Imperial House Corrino.
With Hasimir's inclusion on the council, House Corrino gains the capability to explore Discoveries without the need for Agents. Furthermore, they are granted the privilege to utilize the Development Investment perk on villages belonging to factions presently involved in a Truce with House Corrino.
4 Stilgar Ben Fifrawi (Fremen)
Stilgar Ben Fifrawi, the Naib of Sietch Tabr, holds great esteem and influence among the Fremen people. As the capable leader of one of Arrakis' thriving Fremen communities, Stilgar took it upon himself to mentor and safeguard Chani Kynes, treating her as a cherished member of his own family.
Appointing Stilgar to the council will result in a boosted production of +1 Authority per controlled region that possesses a Spice Field. Furthermore, any regions under the control of the Fremen faction that contain Spice Fields will yield a -20% reduction in upkeep for both adjacent controlled regions and the Spice Fields themselves.
3 Lady Jessica (Atreides)
Lady Jessica, a formidable member of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood and Duke Leto's devoted concubine, is revered for her unwavering allegiance to House Atreides and her dedication to the prosperity of her family. Her unyielding commitment is evident as she faces various challenges across the vast plains of Arrakis, tirelessly safeguarding the well-being of her son, Paul.
Possessing considerable diplomatic prowess, Lady Jessica wields the power to enforce treaties upon other factions, albeit at the expense of her own Influence. Furthermore, if Lady Jessica is inducted into the Atreides household council, it will receive an additional +10% Lansraad Standing, enhancing its reputation and influence within the alliance.
2 Feyd Rautha (Harkonnen)
Feyd Rautha, the designated heir and next-in-line Baron of the Harkonnen legacy, holds a special place in the heart of his uncle, Vladimir Harkonnen. Aside from being a skilled duelist and a captivating leader, Rautha possesses a dark, sadistic side, which endears him to his uncle as the potential successor of their faction.
With Feyd Rautha's involvement in the Harkonnen council, the faction gains the ability to employ Corruption tactics on Lansraad Resolutions, thereby causing a significant decrease in the standing of rival factions. In addition, Rautha contributes a boost of +20% to Influence Production and a remarkable +100% increase in Agent recruitment speed whenever Oppression is established in at least one village.
1 Princess Irulan (Corrino)
Princess Irulan, the eldest daughter and anticipated heir of Emperor Shaddam IV, was raised and trained as a Bene Gesserit sister. However, she is fully dedicated to the prosperity of the Empire and possesses the ambition and aptitude to excel.
By including Princess Irulan in the council, House Corrino will significantly augment their influence, as each vote on Imperial Edict resolutions will be amplified by 50%. Moreover, the alliance between House Corrino and Sietches in neutral territories will prove highly advantageous for them.
