Former Scotland and Everton striker Duncan Ferguson, aged 51, has been announced as the new manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He had also played for Dundee United, Rangers, and Newcastle. Ferguson has signed a three-year contract with the Scottish Championship's last-placed team.
Ferguson takes up the role after being sacked in July by Forest Green Rovers, where he won just one of his 18 matches in charge as the club finished bottom of League One.

Taking up the position in the Highlands will mark his second managerial role, as he steps in for Billy Dodds who was dismissed slightly more than a week ago, with Inverness still unable to secure a victory in a league game this season. Prior to his debut as a manager at Forest Green, Ferguson had served as interim boss twice at Everton, where he also held the position of assistant manager.

Ferguson served as assistant to Rafa Benitez at Everton and also assumed the role of interim boss on two occasions. Since his conviction for assault following an incident during Rangers' 4-0 victory over Raith Rovers in April 1994, where he headbutted defender Jock McStay, Ferguson has not worked in Scotland.
He had already been placed on probation due to an incident in a bar in Anstruther while playing for Dundee United. As a result, he was sentenced to three months in Barlinnie Prison, ultimately serving 44 days.
Additionally, the Scottish FA imposed a 12-match ban on Ferguson. Following this, he made the decision to retire from international football after representing his country in seven matches.
