Drena De Niro Touchingly Pays Tribute to Late Son Leandro on His 20th Birthday: A Heartfelt Message of Peace and Remembrance

On her son's birthday, Drena De Niro, the daughter of Robert De Niro, fondly remembers Leandro, who passed away. Sharing throwback photos on Instagram, Drena, 51, expresses gratitude for the two decades of happiness and profound moments that he brought to her life. She hopes that Leandro's spirit is at peace and brimming with eternal joy, as she commemorates his birth and mourns his loss.

Drena shared more heartfelt tributes to her son on Instagram Stories. She went the extra mile by personalizing a heart-shaped pendant from Atelier Modica with the word "Love." To make it even more meaningful, she asked the jewelry designer to include a small "E" between the "L" and "O" letters.

On Friday, Drena posted a picture of the final design created by Atelier Modica with the caption, "Can't spell love without Leo."

Rodriguez also paid tribute to Leandro's 20th birthday on his Instagram, using the hashtag "Can't spell love without Leo."

"On this day, I write this with tears in my eyes, celebrating what would have been your 20th birthday," he wrote on Friday. "We loved you unconditionally and without any hesitation, for who you were and who you aspired to be. Your kind and gentle heart will forever be remembered by your family and friends. Your light now guides us."

Rodriguez stated, "On this special day, we, along with your Mamma @drenadeniro and your friends from all over the globe, commemorate you and acknowledge the impact your life had. You have truly made this world a better place."

Last month, Drena De Niro announced the tragic passing of her 19-year-old son, Leandro De Niro. In a heartfelt Instagram post on July 2, she expressed her feelings of not knowing how to live without him, but vowed to carry on and share the love and light that he had brought into her life. Drena also emphasized how deeply loved and cherished he was, and expressed her wish that love alone could have saved him.

Robert, 79, who had adopted Drena during his previous marriage with Diahnne Abbott, expressed his sorrow over the untimely demise of his eldest grandson, Leo, in a statement provided to We. On July 3, the actor stated, "I am profoundly saddened by the loss of my dear grandson, Leo. We are truly grateful for the heartfelt condolences received from all. During this period of mourning, we kindly request privacy."

Leandro's cause of death was determined to be an accidental overdose. The chief medical examiner in New York City disclosed that at the time of his death, Leandro had substances such as fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs in his system. On Wednesday, August 9, Drena stated on Instagram that Leandro was unaware that he had consumed a substance tainted with fentanyl.
