Doga Kobo surprises fans with a captivating live-action teaser trailer for their highly-anticipated original series, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night Get ready to be enthralled by the mysterious world awaiting you in this upcoming anime adaptation

Dogo Kobo has just released a lively live-action promotional video for its upcoming original anime series, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night. The show's official website and Twitter page recently revealed its fourth teaser, which captures a nostalgic home video feel and showcases a group of friends joyfully exploring the seaside. This teaser, like the previous ones, is entirely shot in live-action. On November 1st, Doga Kobo will unveil the first animated teaser for the series. As reported by Anime News Network, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night is a brand new story created by JELEE to commemorate Doga Kobo's 50th Anniversary. The anime itself is set to premiere in 2024.

Located in Shibuya, Tokyo, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night follows a group of girls as they explore their inner creativity for the first time. The third teaser for the show, titled "I want to find out what I like," sets the stage for their journey. Ryohei Takeshita, known for his work on Pokémon: Paldea Winds, is the series director. Yuki Yaku, the creator of the popular light novel series Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki-kun, is responsible for overseeing the scripts and series composition. The main character designer is popman3580, with Junichiro Taniguchi, known for his work on You're Being Summoned, Azazel and Puella Magi Madoka Magica, handling the animation designs.

Doga Kobo gained recognition earlier this year with their successful anime Oshi no Ko, which took the Spring 2023 season by storm, surpassing even popular titles like Demon Slayer and Hell's Paradise. Adapted from Aka Akasaka's manga of the same name, the story follows a small-town gynecologist who wakes up in the body of Aquamarine, the son of his beloved pop idol, Ai Hoshino, in a tale of rebirth.

The Japanese pop idol industry was exposed in the show, receiving praise for shedding light on issues like fan obsession and cyberbullying. However, the series faced criticism from the family of the late pro-wrestler Hana Kimura, who accused it of revealing sensitive details about her life and the circumstances surrounding her death. In July, Doga Kobo confirmed that Oshi no Ko Season 2 was greenlit, but a release date has not yet been announced.

Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night is scheduled to debut in 2024. The Oshi no Ko anime can be streamed on HIDIVE, and the English version of the manga is published by Yen Press.
